Visiting Specialists Calendar

Inter Island Medical Center is also pleased to announce our visiting specialists will be continuing their usual scheduled appointments in the Medical Center in 2006. We appreciate their dedication to our San Juan County residents by traveling monthly to the island to care for patients in consultation and follow up.

Our specialists have very busy practices in their own home communities so we deeply value their efforts to provide services to San Juan County residents. Providing these specialists a space to see patients in our clinic is another way IIMC can serve patients in San Juan County.

Dr. Jon Tiessen, Family Foot and Ankle Care, San Juan Island's favorite Podiatrist , will continue to visit the clinic and see patients every 2nd Thursday of the month. If you want to schedule an appointment with Dr. Tiessen, please give his office a call at 1-800-459-0549.

Practicing as a group: IIMC Physicians practice as a group and share coverage with each other. This assures you continuity of care since a physician is always available and has access to your medical records.

Scheduling a Visit with a Physician: To make an appointment please call 378-2141 between 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. (M-F) If you briefly describe the nature of your concern to our receptionist, it will be easier to schedule a suitable appointment for you. Keep in mind that multiple concerns might involve more than one visit depending on the nature of your complaints or time available for your visits. Most physician appointments are designed to address 1-3 primary concerns. It is helpful if you bring a list of questions or any medications you are taking not prescribed by your physician.

We will make every effort to honor your scheduled appointment time, but occasionally emergent situations create delays. When we become aware of unanticipated delays we will notify you of the delay and try to accommodate your needs. Everyone on the staff appreciates your patience on these occasions. Because missed appointments are a waste of available staff time and resources, please give us at least 24 HOURS advance notice if you are unable to keep your appointment, so that someone else might have an opportunity to use that time.

Referral: Our practice is closely linked with a wide network of specialists on the mainland. Should you require a referral, our referral coordination system will streamline this process for you.

Emergency Care: Inter Island Medical Center is a designated Level 5 Trauma Center. Medical Center staff work closely with the Emergency Medical Service paramedics and EMTs to provide emergency support services. All of the IIMC physicians and nursing staff are certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support. In case of emergency, call 911 from a land line phone, or 378-4141 from a cell phone.

Telephone Calls: If you have a medical question please call the office. Our nursing staff is trained to answer certain questions, and to schedule appointments if appropriate for doctor consultation.

The IIMC Business Office will submit a one-time claim on your behalf to all insurers that will go towards the deductible to be met.

A one-time claim will be submitted on your behalf to non-contracted insurers as a courtesy. Any unpaid balances will be considered overdue at 30 days.

After Hours/Emergent Services are always available. A $150 deposit against your account is due at the time of service for all private-pay, non-contracted insurance plans or out-of-area residents. This is not considered payment-in-full and you will be billed for any additional balance in excess of this deposit or refunded if there is a credit. You will receive an itemized statement with all charges for the visit.
