Islands Convalescent Center aglow with holiday spirit

Islands Convalescent Center staff's creativity is on display this holiday season. Snowflakes float in the Wildflower Room, lights twinkle in the North Pole-like entry way, teddy bears snuggle under trees throughout the facility. The center has a holiday decorating contest each year. Inter Island Medical Center staff toured the facility, sang carols and judged the decorations Tuesday, December 10, 2002. A $500 prize will be awarded Friday.

Besides being busy decorating, the staff has been taking care of a full house. Center Director Robin Vanhyning said the facility has been operating at full capacity for the past three months. She recently received permission to open up five additional beds for a total of 60 beds.
