restaurants and shops open for the season

Roche Harbor’s McMillin’s Dining Room, has opened for the season, as well as the Roche Harbor Sportswear & Boutique and the Marine Adventure Center.

McMillin’s is now open every evening from 5 to 10 p.m. through October 21. Chef Bill Shaw will be offering favorites from his Rock Salt Roasted Prime Rib and Scampi- Style Prawns to Fresh Shellfish Fettuccine with Marsala-Garlic Cream Sauce to Oregon Hazelnut Crusted Halibut Stuffed with Dungeness Crab to Flame-Grilled Rack of Lamb with Cabernet Sauvignon Sauce. There are also appetizers, as well as starter salads and soups, on the menu, which changes slightly each week.

New Sportswear & Boutique Manager Brenna Woods opened up shop on March 23. Tommy Bahama, Sigrid Olsen Sport, Cutter & Buck, Ralph Lauren and Redline are a sampling of the sporty-casual clothing you’ll find in the shop, in petites to full sizes. In addition, the shop carries sunglasses, sun hats, handbags and wallets (including Brighton accessories), shoes, jewelry, and a new, island-made, sterling silver jewelry line called "Pooches" (by Riki Schumacher). The Sportswear & Boutique also features Roche Harbor souvenir clothing, and is located up the stairs above the General Store.

The Marine Adventure Center, run by San Juan Safaris, opens today, April 27, and offers whale watch and sea kayak tours, as well as open deck kayak and small boat rentals.

May 18 marks opening day at Roche Harbor, when all restaurants, shops and services will be open seven days a week. May 19 is the 3rd Annual Return of the Orca Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
