HOROSCOPE
September 29 - October 5 , 2003
Chill
By Triana Èlan
Mars is driving people crazy. So is the prolonged sun and the yellow jackets. Labor Day has come and gone but folks just don’t seem to be getting over the island phenomenon I call Augustitis.
August is the busiest month of the year, it’s the month that tourist dependent businesses depend on, the month that sees contractors hammering and sawing away and dollars going into the bank account. It’s also the month when people get really gnarly.
And now we’ve had August weather all month and people are still gnarly. We’re starting to act like Californians! Gosh, even that first real rain we had saw cars piling up on the mainland freeways, as if no one knew how to drive in the rain, especially the first real rain of many months.
I’m watching so many people living in these laid-back islands, being anything but that. But I suppose times change. It’s very sad to see so many people acting as if every little annoyance is a crisis. I’m not talking about the very big life-altering things such as a fire or a death or a disease. I’m talking about the overreaction to someone using the wrong word, buying the wrong thing, making a mistake.
Let’s pause and remember why we’re here!

Aries (March 21 - April 20): You may feel frustrated at the beginning of the week and feel like you’re all thumbs (or everyone else is!). Learning that things aren’t always what they seem is difficult for anyone. Be sure that you can put your money where your mouth is; others can be very demanding right now and you need to be very clear abut what you can and can’t do. Establish your limits and stay within them to avoid disappointment.

Taurus (April 21 - May 20): Something old, something new, a little of this and a little of that. But not enough of anything. That about sums it up for your mood. There is a definite lack of reliable help in your sphere, or you may have taken too much on. Don’t hold expectations of future rewards that may not show up, you’ll only feel used. This is a time to get empirical; if it’s there, grab it. If it’s only an image, watch it and consider it entertainment but no more.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Next week your ruling planet Mercury will move from antagonistic Virgo into airy Libra, giving you a great lift. In the meantime, lay your plans for what to do next and follow the map step by step. Leaving the path now could cause you to go into the ditch and you’ll be crabby. There is a healthy balance of planetary elements to help you stabilize so use the time well and do something each day that you can feel proud of at the end of it.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22): As we sing out way into a beautiful autumn, count each day as a blessing. you crave your own space and at the same time you like to know that you’re needed. If you have a talent for crafts, start Christmas projects early and don’t forget to finish them! What? You still have things left over from last year? Well good...you have a ready-made task and you won’t have to think too hard!

Leo (July 23 - August 22): With Jupiter holding in your solar sector of finance, you have a good chance of getting ahead. The clue is, don’t take a step backward. No doubt about it, you’re having to hold out longer than you’re accustomed to, but this is due to things beyond your personal control. Speaking of personal, don’t take things personally. Just be sure you’re being genuine and open to learning. You don’t like feeling like you’re not “in the know” but swallow your pride for now.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22): Okay so Mars in a prolonged sojourn through your opposite sign of Pisces isn’t really going you any favors, but hold tight. Next week Venus shifts into scrutinizing Scorpio, and you’ll get the answers that have been previously elusive. Saturn in homey Cancer is giving you some breaks, and what you’re challenged with now will be a future boon, so take it systematically and be aware of what you’re learning about yourself.

Libra (September 23 - October 22): If it weren’t for Saturn upsetting some things, you’d feel like everything was perfect. But you’re in a growth phase right now, and these don’t come without discomfort. Being a creature of comfort, you might be a bit grumpy, but that’s okay. I read a sign that said "The only difference between an adventure and an ordeal is your attitude." You have the capacity to make things fun, so go get your Fun Bug and power up!

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22): Oh my, you’re on a hot trail, and it looks like you’re making great headway. Your intuition is dead on target, but watch that your mind doesn’t jump to conclusions prematurely. You don’t want to seal yourself off from what’s happening around you. Discernment is a good thing to exercise. Pick and choose your projects and stay open to the path of least resistance.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 20): Pluto in your sign continues to work on you at a very deep level, and you’re finding yourself in a phase that surprises you. Even a year ago you were uncompromising in some areas, but now you are forced to give way to something more powerful than your ego. If you take things personally now, you’ll be losing out on a lot. At the same time, use a bit more sensitivity when dealing with others. Balance is the key for you now.

Capricorn (December 21 - January 19): With your ruling planet Saturn in your opposite sign of Cancer, you’re being forced to bring things to the surface that you can no longer ignore. Ouch. On the other hand, hidden talents and your true calling await you if you are paying attention. Don’t play the antagonist card now; that will alienate you from others. You are compelled to get a message of some kind out into the world around you and you’ll need to do it by grasping a bigger picture. Consider all angles before jumping in.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 19): Your ruler Uranus has back into your own sign again, due to its retrograde motion. This is more of a generational thing than an individual thing, but you’re still feeling it. Be sure that you have the right information if someone asks you something or you’ll be immediately discredited. People are scrambling for the right information now, including yourself. Be sure that you are hearing what is really being said, not what you want or need to hear. It’s inconvenient, yes, but in the long run you’ll be better off.

Pisces (February 20-March 20)Mars occupying your sign is really blazing a new trail for you, and hopefully you’re getting the message. Gone are the days of easy money and playing in the surf (for now). If you ride the swinging pendulum, you’re less likely to get smacked by it. Balance your heart and your head and don’t be lazy! If you sprint a little now and then you won’t get left in the dust. Dream a new dream Pisces!
