The Tenth House
By Triana Èlan
February 2 - 8, 2004
The tenth House is the House of Achievement; it opposes and balances the
fourth House (Family), and reveals how well or not we are integrating
into society as a whole. The most common form of integration for adults
is the work place. The young adult will often take family values and
lessons into the work place, finding that things in the latter are very
different. The ability to adjust to the pressures of authority figures
outside of the family is also the ability to survive.
The tenth House is ruled by Capricorn and therefore Saturn; it is a
House of lessons and within it is the School Of Hard Knocks. The cusp of
the tenth House is the Mid Heaven point of the chart, marking a critical
point in life’s arena.
The sign of the tenth House for the individual will reveal the general
attitude about work, ethics and dealing with others. Planets occupying
this house will reveal the processes by which we succeed or fail in careers.
When we reach full adulthood, whether single or married, with or without
children, the fourth House becomes our bedrock of stability.
The fourth
House represents our home environment, what we need, how we create it.
Being opposite the fourth House, the tenth House will reflect how well
we are doing with the fourth. If our home is in chaos, our job suffers.
conversely, if things are not good at work, our home life suffers.
The tenth House is important when considering what jobs would best suit
us; the sign this House falls under reveals nor only our attitude but
our aptitude as well.
When interpreting the chart of a young person, the tenth House is the
harbinger of what is to naturally come for the youth, and a good
astrologer can guide the young person to their natural use of talent.

Aries (March 21 - April 20): Several key planets will change signs this
week and that always means a disturbance and a feeling of restlessness.
As the week moves on, you will turn your attention toward a resolve to
stabilize yourself financially. This trend will continue for the rest of
the month. It won’t be easy, though...Mercury moving into chaotic
Aquarius may propel you to be impulsive. Hold back, count to 10 before
you give an answer to a loaded question, and keep moving toward your
resolve.

Taurus (April 21 - May 20): Lucky you! Mars sails into your sign on
Wednesday, giving you a boost of energy. Venus and Mercury also change
signs, and three planets in ingress (changing signs) all at once can be
chaotic for about a week until they settle. Don’t expect to get a lot
done this week; there may be more obstacles than open doors. But don’t
let that get you down; if you don’t push the river you’ll be just dandy.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Patience has never been your strong trait,
but changes in planetary positions this week will get you on your way.
With Jupiter rattling your cage in some pretty big ways, you’ve likely
been suffering an attack of nerves....calm down! Mercury, your Ruler,
moves into Aquarius this week, joining the Sun and Neptune. This will
bring clarity of thought and a sense of calm. Practice breathing!
Remember, oxygen is your friend!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22): Mars comes to your rescue this week, as it
moves into grounded Taurus. This will help you gain a sense of solidity
and security, which is crucial for you. As the month moves on, Mars will
snuggle up to Jupiter and Saturn, calming the waves and clearing the way
for you. Hang in there! Refrain from being tempted to ditch something
that has stalled out; give it a couple more weeks and see if the tide
turns for you.

Leo (July 23 - August 22): This week, three planets change signs. This
always causes a disturbance for about a week, where we feel a loss of
control. Just ride it out, though. The outcome will be favorable.
Mercury, Venus and Mars will all be there for you to help you find your
way through, but you must give them time to settle, and yourself, too!
If you are looking to make changes, next week will be the time to make
it go. The Full Moon in your sign on Wednesday will bring you a lucky
break. Be watchful!

Virgo (August 23 - September 22): Mars sails into solid Taurus this
week, giving you an extra sense of well being. As the month moves on,
Mars will blow kisses to Jupiter who is in your sign. This is so good!
You will have the energy and resolve to make progress in an area you’ve
been neglecting. Wednesday’s Full Moon in Leo will shine the light into
the dark corners of your mind, bringing you insight and answers. Relax
your mind.

Libra (September 23 - October 22): Mercury the Communicator flies into
your fellow air sign Aquarius this week and by Monday Venus will have
moved into your opposite sign of Aries. As always, you are trying to
bring things into balance and move into a more comfortable position. If
you remember that it is not your job to please everyone, you’ll be just
fine. While your focus will shift to the world around you, don’t forget
to take good care of yourself; then you will have more to give.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22): If you’re a single Scorpio, this
month holds promise for you to find a sweetheart due to favorable
planetary positions. Are you in hot pursuit? Chill out and let the other
reach out to you. The Full Moon in Leo on Wednesday will likely propel
you to focus on travel or a change of career, or a better position in
your present workplace. Your loyalty is paramount now, and the right
people will see it and respond favorably.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 20): Yeah, sure, you’re supposed to
be calming down. You can be a sign of extremes: Feast or famine, doing
too much or doing nothing. You hate dull moments. Now, listen: this week
is fantastic for you. More than fantastic. Three planets changing signs
and a Full Moon in Leo will light your rockets, so you’d better have a
true aim, because you’re lifting off! Remember to run your life, don’t
let it run you.

Capricorn (December 21 - January 19): There’s an awful lot of activity
going on this week: Three planets changing signs and a Full Moon. If you
feel like your circuits are blowing, just take a breather. It will pass
as things settle down next week. Mars will come to your rescue in solid
Taurus, helping you feel the earth under your feet. We live in a society
that seems to thrive on stress, but in truth none of us do. If you feel
you are tilting, take a break. The world won’t fall apart just because
you’re resting a little.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 19): Chatty Mercury moves into your sign
this week, joining the Sun and Neptune who are already there. Venus
moves into fiery Aries and Mars glides into Taurus this week too. Oh,
and there’s a Full Moon in your opposite sign of Leo on Wednesday. You
need a secretary! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s because you are
overloading yourself. You like to feel needed, but if you’ve created
unhealthy dependencies it’s not productive for anyone. Take this week to
reflect, rearrange, and pull back a little.

Pisces (February 20-March 20): Three planets changing signs and a Full
Moon this week may have you listing in the water. Don’t take on too
much, there isn’t enough stability this week to see you through. Mercury
moves into chaotic Aquarius, pushing you to think differently and
reevaluate your ideas. Venus moves into aggressive Aries, and this
propels you to expand your financial horizons. Mars moves into stubborn
Taurus, giving you solid ground on which to stand. The Full Moon in Leo
offers to dry out the damp corners. Wow, what a week!
