Where Are We Going?

April 14 - 20, 2003

By Triana Èlan

It seems that at every turn I listen to people caught in situations over which they have no control. Imposed change is an awful thing to have to deal with, and the changes are hitting so fast it’s difficult to keep up with all of it. Sometimes we don’t know that things have changed until after the fact, and that’s especially bad.

One thing I’ve been encouraging people to do for years is to pay attention. I think I’ll release that, because there is too much to be paying attention to! And not everything that demands out attention is worthy of it.

These are confusing times, times of disappointment, broken dreams, coming to terms with whatever illusion has been our shell of psychological protection. Many people feel that they have nothing to hold on to. And this is where, maddeningly, strength of character and faith come into the picture. Add gut instincts to the mix and we’re getting close to solving the problem. Throw in a pinch of false security and we’ve defined the problem.

Uranus is going to be in Pisces for about eight years. In June Uranus will begin a retrograde and eventually back into Aquarius again, moving forward at the end of the year and coming back into Pisces again solidly.

The last time Uranus was in Pisces was from 1919 to 1927. These days saw AT&T introduce the first dial telephone, RCA was established and we saw the first of radio station. Persia managed to throw out the Russians and in general, sweeping regime changes took place across the Middle East. China was also going through some major shake-ups.

Uranus is considered a generational planet, meaning that its movements define generations rather than individuals. People born during Uranus’ last sojourn in Pisces were the Baby Boomers’ parents, who saw the Great Depression, World War II and the Korean War. They suffered enormous hardships and made great sacrifices for the Boomers and their respective countries. They defined Reduce, Reuse, Recycle before it was a trend.

Pisces is typically a sign of sacrifice. Cycles come and go, then come round again but we forget. We long for the good times, the old days, our past glories. But we must be here, now. We are dealing with things we’ve never had to deal with before, and community is essential for us to see the way through. We’ve been very spoiled and have taken an enormous amount for granted.

Let’s now pay attention to the quality of life for ourselves and each other. Many people are hurting now, and for most of them it’s not their fault. Let’s extend hand where we can.

Aries (March 21 - April 20):
Mars in bossy Capricorn is really getting to you; don’t listen to your own ghosts! Sometimes it’s hard to not look back and think "if only." That does no good. You may be tempted to throw in the towel and give up, but that may mean you just need to take a break and regroup. Yes, these are stressful times. Get creative!

Taurus (April 21 - May 20):
Neptune in unreliable Aquarius is throwing illusions at you and that really makes you mad. If it looks like a good deal, it falls apart. If you get optimistic, something brings you down. Taurus, you can’t measure your own happiness by what the world is doing. Reach down deep inside and bring yourself up. Keep dealing with the world from inside of you, don’t get all riled up from what’s outside.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20):
Venus in Pisces is taking a swat at Saturn in your sign. Yuck. Must be those taxes that are getting you down. It happens every year, yet we always are so surprised, aren’t we?! Make a pledge to yourself to get so organized that you won’t feel this way next year. Then see if you can make it last. Oh, no! Commitment? That’s scary.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22):
Things are humming along even if they seem to be going to pieces. An interesting paradox, but this is a good month for you, even during these difficult times. We’re coming into a brighter time after a long, long winter. You may be feeling grouchy because you are feeling the sap moving in your veins. Warmth is what you crave, on the inside and the outside. Make it happen!

Leo (July 23 - August 22):
No matter what it looks like, you’re in a good position. If it appears you’ve lost something, it’s only to make way for something better. Still, there is a price to pay for being such a stellar sign! You are very image conscious and much harder on yourself than anyone else would want to be, including the Almighty. Find a comfortable stride and stick to it.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22):
You seem to be getting tripped up at every turn these days! Frustrating, isn’t it? Well darn. After tax time, have a nice cup of tea and relax. And quit being so hard on yourself! You know better than anyone that thinking about doing something is much harder than actually doing it. Don’t be such a worrywort.

Libra (September 23 - October 22):
If things keep going all flip-floppy, you’ll blow a gasket! Now listen, Libra, someone threw out the rule book and you need to make up a new protocol to live by. Start a new habit that is good for you and feels good, too. You don’t have to go macrobiotic or anything radical, just make some simple adjustments. You know where to start, so do it.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22):
Pisces is prominent for you now, whether it’s in a sector of your chart or a Pisces person you know. Your edges are softening and your taking stock of a few things. Good for you! One wonderful thing about your sign is its lack of fear. You know where your own edges are and are not reluctant to defend them. But now something new is stirring within you. It’s not quite defined yet, but just sit with it a while and see what it turns into.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 20):
The issue of home is prominent now, and you may be up for a change of residence or a big remodel. Uranus and Venus in Pisces places your home and hearth at center stage, so be prepared. Sudden upheavals are never pleasant to deal with, but if you’ve been planning to make a move, it looks like now is the time. Don’t procrastinate, you know how much you hate having to get organized!

Capricorn (December 21 - January 19):
Neptune strong in your sector of resources and finance has a way of tempting you with ways you think you can get ahead financially, only to see them collapse. Don’t try to go too far too fast, especially with the instability that abounds now. As much as you want to start a new trend, it would be best to hold off for a few months. The results are not all in yet.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 19):
Neptune in your sign has some kind of wool over your eyes. Are you in denial about something? Your mind is like steel when it’s made up, but steel attracts lightning. You are tempted to be rigid and unyielding now in your ideas and opinions, but these times call for flexibility. Don’t get stubborn!

Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Yes, it’s about money. There ain’t any. That’s such a bummer for someone like you who wings it then gets tired. But guess what, no one’s allowed to be tired right now. That’s another bummer. On the bright side, there are new avenues for you to explore, and your deep waters have to jump the banks to get where you want to go. Find a direction and go in it unwaveringly.
