Those Doggone Clouds!
Wouldn’t it just figure that the second meteor shower (the Geminids) will likely be obscured by clouds. So were the Leonids last month, which were pretty spectacular according to reports. In case it isn’t cloudy, look to the left of Orion to see the Geminids. They’ll actually be all over the sky, but appear to originate from the constellation of Gemini, hence the name.
Meteor showers are predictable as clockwork, and are caused from the Earth traveling through the dust of a comet’s tail. The Geminid meteor shower peaks on Thursday night (Dec. 12), but between now and then keep an eye out.
If it turns out to be rainy or cloudy, you better not pout and you better not cry, you better not shout, I’m telling you why... because everyone’s sick of that behavior! Never mind Santa Claus coming to town (by the way, in Holland, Father Christmas’ birthday is celebrated on December 5th and he arrives drawn in a sleigh by a horse!).
Speaking of Santa and all that lot, who cares if it’s only a myth and who cares whose birthday is when. The lights are beautiful, there is celebrating and singing like no other time of the year that’s always heart lifting, and eggnog shows up. I think that’s terrific and personally don’t want to listen to any attitudes about it. I’m hoping that a lot of the stress can be taken out of it this year, that we can simplify and focus on what is good and kind and true to the heart. This is a magical time and has been for a very long time, so let’s just get out of the way and let it be magical.
Yes, times are bad. They’ve been worse. Yes, we’re all strapped for cash. It’s still nothing compared to the Great Depression. We’re smarter, we can get things done more efficiently and quickly. But now let’s see how mature we are. We sure aren’t as a nation, but as little units we can get make this holiday season good and sparkly.
Aries (March 21 - April 20):
Mercury, planet of thinking, communication and travel, has now slipped into practical Capricorn. This could signify a call to action for you in the area of career; even during these rough times you can grab an opportunity to get ahead. Your can-do attitude will get you in the door; the discipline will be holding the opportunity by following through and showing up.
Taurus (April 21 - May 20):
The Moon in antagonistic Aquarius has you in a snit, but give it a couple of days and you’ll be better. Mercury has flown into reliable Capricorn, so your thinking will clear up and you’ll be on a roll again. Mars and Venus in your opposite sign of Scorpio are urging you to network with others in a significant way (business or finance). Follow your guts!
Gemini (May 21 - June 20):
Well, you now have a terrific chance to ground and get ahead without incident as long as you stick to your guns. Don’t compromise and don’t make up any excuses. These times are calling for everyone to just do it and get on with it; no grumbling, whining or blaming. Your knowledge is your best friend now, so remember what you know and move forward.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22):
Mercury in your opposite sign of Capricorn along with Venus and Mars in Scorpio are your action cards to play now. If you have a point, make it efficiently and stick with it. Don’t go into fear of loss or you’ll surely bring it about. This is definitely a time to gather your forces, make yourself known and boost your self-esteem. Go do it!
Leo (July 23 - August 22):
There is definitely pressure to keep going toward your goal, so hopefully your goal is well defined. This is a time to focus and stay the course. Be prepared for new doors to open and check them out thoroughly. Don’t take too long, though, because these times are about "move it or lose it." Celebrate the season and socialize; casual encounters may turn out to be significant for your progress and provide leads.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22):
Now that Mercury has happily settled into decisive Capricorn, you’re able to focus on projects that have been ignored for a while. Continue to clear things out and get ready for the new year. It always feels good to be organized, even if it’s short lived. Watch where your attention is going ... Mars and Venus in unforgiving Scorpio will amplify any negativity you may be tossing around unconsciously.
Libra (September 23 - October 22):
Finances! That’s the issue now, and if you’re in a struggle don’t make it any worse by being argumentative. Mercury in your adversary of Capricorn will find your personal weak links and exploit them. Use the energy of Venus and Mars in Scorpio (now occupying your solar house of finance and self-esteem) to shore yourself up and focus on your own empowerment.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 22):
Holy cow, is this ever an intense time for you! Your own image and identity seem to be changing faster than you can keep up. This could be a very rough time for you, calling on you to get very real about yourself in relation to the world. Sometimes there’s an obsessive tendency with you, but you need to loosen your grip in one area and tighten it in another. If you’ve let a commitment fall away, look at it again.
Sagittarius (November 23 - December 20):
You’re going to have to work extra hard to focus now, due to major solar and lunar eclipse patterns falling on the Sagittarius/Gemini axis lately (the latest total solar eclipse occurred in your sign). Spend this powerful month getting your ducks in a row for the new year. Even though times are tough, you’re one of the most resourceful and adaptive signs. Diversity is the key to treasure, so give it all you’ve got!
Capricorn (December 21 - January 19):
Mercury has flown into your own dear sign, so you can put the little nagging voice in your back pocket and sit on it. It never seems to shut up, does it? Your friends come to the fore, especially during this particular holiday season. Let them celebrate you, and don’t forget to praise them back. Make it a point to not criticize anything for the rest of the month and watch the changes! You’ll love it (especially when you quit criticizing yourself!).
Aquarius (January 20 - February 19):
Family issues and work come leaping up for your attention, and the beginning of this week is critical for you. Hopefully you’ll get it together! If you don’t, you don’t. Just don’t make any promises you don’t intend to keep. This is a time that is forcing you out into the world in a way you’re not accustomed to, and if you think you’re objective or detached you may be surprised to find out that you’re very subjective and attached in ways that will need to change. But you can do that, you’re creative!
Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Would you like a little cheese with your whine? Well, we can’t blame you for having a good little cry. Things are very intense! But think back a year ago, how tense they were then, in a different way. Now listen, don’t you dare settle into any negative thinking! We desperately need dreamers now, but dreamers who can make dreams into reality. So start with yourself, inspire yourself, be proud of yourself. You can shake off the tension.
