HOROSCOPE

September 1 - 7 , 2003

By Triana Èlan

Whew

Blimey, what a summer it's been! Mars practically on top of us, illness and accidents and deaths and absolutely brain bending stuff hitting us all for the most part.

And now Mercury has to go retrograde doesn't it. Mercury is in Virgo and we begin September with the Little Planet That Can (and Will) screw of your life moving backwards, sticking its tongue out at Uranus (who is also moving backward in Pisces) and Mars (who is too close for comfort and also in Pisces).

It seems that some planets just can't help picking a fight, like schoolyard bullies. And here we are, caught in the middle.

Fortunately, Mars isn't going to be this close again in our lifetimes. Its next close approach won't be for over two hundred years.

With orbital patterns being irregular, weather patterns being altered so much and people having to start all over again, we still have many blessings to count. So we'd better regroup and start counting them.

There is a lot to do for all of us as we face an uncertain future due to the decisions of a handful of people who don't even know us yet have our well-being in their hands.

This would be a very, very good time for us to bury hatchets, pull together and steward our community. Agendas and control issues and motives of power and greed will just not work. Communication is critical now.

We all have too much on our plates, and we need to cut each other some slack. As we wrap up this year, it would be good to say goodbye to it by evaluating what we've learned, paying attention to what we can take with us, and redoubling our efforts to move back to simplicity and honesty.

This year has certainly highlighted the creative talent of blame shifting and finger pointing. But nothing's getting done.

Away, Ego, away with you!

Aries (March 21 - April 20):
We begin this month with a retrograde Mercury, and it falls in your solar sector of health and work. Hopefully you'll pay close attention during the next three weeks in these two areas as any weakness you have will show itself. In general, a shift is occurring, the season is changing, and Mars, your Ruler, has made big news by being so very close to Earth. Internal changes may be rattling your cage but you can't quite figure out what's going on so don't try. Some things are so subtle that it takes time to see them.

Taurus (April 21 - May 20):
Well, well, well. Now we have moved into the fourth quarter of the year and you've taken a pounding in some ways. Now listen, don't go getting bitter and closed off if you're been messed with by others who have had control over your life and livelihood. No matter your age, this has been a year to remember! You don't do well if you can't feel security under your feet or on your horizon; use this time to do whatever it is you have to do to keep yourself okay.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20):
Moonchild, it's looking good for you if you continue on the path that works for you. If you scatter and try to service everyone else's needs (and there are many, too many for one person to handle), you'll go down in flames. Reassess, reevaluate, regroup as we head into autumn. This isn't a time to try and move too far too soon. Take one thing at a time and don't start something new unless you've tied up all the loose ends in other areas.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22):
Okay so you want to just stay home and be pampered. Well, that’s a good thing, but hopefully you’re not driving your immune system into the ground to get it! This is a week to surround yourself with your best people and soak up some kudos. You’ve been a busy little crab, scuttling hither and thither and now you want some down time. Take it!

Leo (July 23 - August 22):
Gosh Leo, you are trying so hard to find your four paws again, and it's not easy if you've been displaced in any way. Your generous nature wants so badly to be able to function, but the duties you've been harnessed to have given you a case of the guilties. Don't go there! When changes suddenly sweep across the land, it's very hard for you to adapt. And that's okay. Take your time and scope out the new terrain. Mercury's retrograde in your solar sector of finance and resources may have you a little scared, but hang on for three weeks.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22):
With Mars and Mercury both retrograde in opposing signs (one of them yours), you may well feel like throwing in the towel. Go ahead, but only if the towel is contaminating you. You try so hard to make things work that often you take on more than your fair share of the burden. Take a good look at what you have on your plate and drop needless tasks. Especially now with Mercury retrograde in your sign, make no promises that you can't immediately keep. It will get better, Virgo!

Libra (September 23 - October 22):
y the middle of the month you should be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel; Venus will be moving into your sign, bolstering your courage and sense of resolve. Use these first two weeks of the month to prepare for where you're wanting to go next, and also assess if it's possible to get there in your current location. If not, a relocation may be in the works. One can only hang on for so long, and you're not one to tolerate long periods of instability very well.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22):
If you've been acting as the pillar of strength lately, you may find yourself in need. Don't keep your feelings bottled up, because they'll just blow out somewhere else and likely in the direction of someone who doesn't deserve to get hit with it. You are good at moving inward, which is fortunate. But the control thing may trip you up, so release the reins in some of those areas.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 20):
You're moving steadily toward a very pretty position, but it's not here yet. Dang! Archer, the decisions you've made over the summer have done you good, and being the perennial peacekeeper, you've done what you can to be on good terms with others. If they aren't willing to move forward with you, cut them loose to make room for others who are on the same page as you. I know you can feel the shift, it's there and it's real. Stay with it and pay attention to it!

Capricorn (December 21 - January 19):
Awww, Cappie. Saturn in your opposite sign is already dogging you in some ways and you are having to wait, wait, wait. There is almost nothing more intolerable to you since you like to see a swift result, but patience and understanding is the key to the times. If you push or assert yourself in the wrong way, you might find yourself in a lonely position in the near future. Engage in what you love every day and put one positive foot in front of the other.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 19):
What a wild summer this was! And here you are now with your hair all messed up and not quite knowing what to do next. Well, a trip to your personal groom might be a good start! With your Ruler in retrograde along with several other planets (including Mercury) also going backwards, you might be feeling a bit out of the loop. Never mind, you live in your own world anyway so you're fine!

Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Pisces, what dreams you dream! Now quit being a chicken and go make them happen, but you might have to exclude the rest of the world for a while. This is a critical time of growth for you, a real bubble-bursting time where Reality starts hollering at you and you can't pretend you're deaf anymore. Be sure that your faith is on the same page as what Life is trying to tell you and do what it takes. You have the grit!
