Directed by Steve Rash, it features an Academy Award-winning Musical Score, and an Oscar-nominated lead by Gary Busey. The actors did their own singing, and Busey shed 32 pounds to look more like Holly.
This is an American biopic about the 1960-70’s rock band. It was directed by Oliver Stone, and stars Val Kilmer, as Jim Morrison, and Meg Ryan, as his girlfriend. Kilmer’s performance was critically acclaimed, and is considered one of the greatest of 1991, and one of his best roles.

This is a biographical film based on the life of Bobby Darin. Directed by Barry Levinson, and starring Kevin Spacey. It depicts Darin's rise to success in both the music and film industry during the 1950’s and 60’s. The movie had mixed reviews, but was felt to capture Darin’s desperation, his braggadocio, and his magnetism.
Directed by Jim McBride and starring Denis Quaid as pioneer rock’n’roll star, Jerry Lee Lewis. It re-creates the soul-shaking, brain-rattling fun of rock and roll, even if it strays a lot from the facts. And Quaid does a nice job of reproducing Lewis’ stage persona.
An American biographical film directed by Luis Valdez about the life and career of rock’n’roll star Richie Valens, starring Lou Diamond Phillips. Ebert said “This is a good small movie, sweet and sentimental, about a kid who never really got the chance to show his stuff.” He died in 1957 in the same plane crash as Buddy Holly.
