Remembering Jasmine
I'd like to dedicate my column this week to all the lovely souls who have called, emailed, and written to express their condolences on Jasmine's passing. For someone like me, a fairly private single person, the outpouring of love and concern has been truly astonishing. I have learned of some of the hidden ways that Jasmine touched others, and I am only now coming to realize how large her spirit was, and how she was loved and cherished by her community. I learned much more from Jasmine than she from me; she was gregarious and enthusiastic, gentle, loving, and nonjudgmental. She had many adventures and misadventures in her life, and lived to a venerable old age for a Labrador. She will be greatly missed by me and by countless others. Please stop by the library and share your stories about Jasmine in the Memory Book - I'd like to collect as many as I can. Many thanks to the library staff members who provided the book and took care of things while I was coping with arrangements, and many, many thanks to everyone who has brought remembrances. It means a lot to me.
