New Library Website

Today we are unveiling our new Web site designed by our Technology Specialist, Floyd Bourne. Our old Web site designed by John Sinclair in 2000 was great in many ways and served us well, but it is time for a fresh look and a restructuring to reflect changes in the ways people access library resources and the Internet. So after much hard work and many postponements, our new Web site is live. And the best news of all -- this new Web site is just the beginning!

With everyone’s help, we want to keep building and shaping it to better serve you. There are still a few sections underdevelopment that will be updated in the next couple of months, perhaps most notably neither the kids nor teen sections have been changed yet, but we are ready to hear from you about how it looks and feels.

New design features include:

A homepage with more options to help you get what you are looking for faster
Find It Now section to help guide you to our online databases, related Web sites, and other library materials
General library information in Spanish
Help sections for accessing your library account online including information on how to check your account, place holds, and renew books.

To use Floyd’s words we are making the Web site "positively progressive in a forward-thinking, evolutionary direction." Pretty cool, huh?

P.S. The library will be closed Sunday the 24th and Monday the 25th for Christmas. We will open on Tuesday with our normal hours. I will take next week off and return with a new column on January 1st.
