Going Places

Summer is a great time to travel, discover new adventures, and explore fresh areas of life. That’s just what we are doing here at the library. Building on the success of the first round of our adult programming series, Live and Learn, and drawing from the expertise of our local community we are continuing to develop our programming services with a second go around. Our theme for the summer is "Going Places" and our programmer, Adrienne Bourne, has put together a great event line up.

We officially kicked things off last night with local author Susan Wingate speaking about her new book Of the Law. Other upcoming Live and Learn events include:

  • Saturday, May 12 6:00 pm
Meet activist, author, traveler, and Hip Mama Ariel Gore.

  • Sunday, May 20, 2:00 pm
Lecture on NW Coast art by Master Carver Greg Colfax co-sponsored by Arctic Raven Gallery and Skagit Valley College. Note this event will be held at the Grange.

  • Friday, June 8, 6:30 pm
    – Learn about our Orcas and other Cetacean species living in the Salish Sea presented by the Whale Museum

  • Saturday, June 9, 7:30 pm
    – Discover hiking the Camino in Spain with Robbie Lawson and the San Juan Island Trails Committee

  • Monday, June 18, 6:00 pm
    – Make your own travel journal. Registration required.

  • Sunday, July 8, 7:00 pm
    – Readings by local author Judith Azrael from her book Wherever I Wander

  • Monday, July 9, 7:00 pm
    – Travel journal writing workshop with Judith Azrael

  • Friday, July 13, 7:00 pm
    – Spoken word event at the library
