New Face at the Library

Some people have noticed a new face here at the library within the last month. I am happy to announce Ann Prestridge as the newest member of our staff. It's hard for me to believe it has already been one month she started. She came on to fill an opening left with Linda's retirement. But she was not hired to fill Linda's position; Heidi Lewis took Linda's position, more or less. Let's just say we've had a fair amount of behind the scene shifting.

With Linda's retirement I took the opportunity to offer our part time staff more hours and opened up if not a can of worms, a can of something. Three staff members increased their hours and Heidi took an increase in hours from her previous position but a decrease in the number of hours of Linda's position.

Increased hours mean additional responsibilities. Additional responsibilities mean new titles, job descriptions, and duties. Heidi has taken on the Interlibrary Loan Services that Linda so gracefully handled but kept her cataloging responsibilities from her original position plus some. Emily Wolf and Ann have taken on ordering responsibilities previously handled by Linda and now do less cataloging than before. Carrie Lacher who previously had hours only for bookkeeping added hours for more reference work and working on the website with Floyd. Diana Warner our Volunteer Coordinator took on just enough hours to pick up a couple duties that Linda used to handle. Adrienne Bourne our Programming Coordinator added time to further develop our programming services.

So even though there is only one new face in the library there are lots of new hats. Things seem to be largely settled into place now with everyone beginning to adjust to their new work flow.

If you have not already done so, please be sure to stop in and welcome Ann to the library!
