Thanks to Richard Civille
posted 06/25/2007 In the fall Richard was hired by the University of Western Washington to develop emergency and disaster response and preparedness on the regional level. Richard has been able to maintain his San Juan residency but his work has inevitably put Richard in the ranks of island commuters. Due to this hectic schedule we are looking to fill his position on our five-member board. It has been wonderful to see how energized Richard is in his new work, but disappointing to say farewell. The Trustees have an exciting role in the library. In addition to planning for the future and overseeing the overall success of the library their main responsibilities include establishing library policies; promoting and advocating for the library in the community; overseeing the budget; and hiring and evaluating the library director. The appointed trustee will complete a remainder of Richard’s 5-year term through December 2009. Candidates should send a letter of interest, along with a resume or list of qualifications, to: Laura Tretter, After an interview process the appointment is made by the San Juan County Council. All applications must be received by Monday, July 9th. Potential candidates are encouraged to attend the board meeting on Tuesday, July 10th at 6:00 pm at the library. If you are not quite ready to act on this we will have another opening on the Board of Trustees in January upon the completion of Ruth Offen’s second and final term. We will post specific information at the appropriate time. Thank you again, Richard, for your dedication and service. For more information please contact me at 378-2798 or ltretter@sjlib.org.
