Our Stories

I’m delaying my "annual year in review and year up ahead" columns by one week to make sure you have time to put our upcoming round of adult programming on your 2008 calendar. We are kicking off our next Live and Learn series with our first program on January 12th and going on through to the end of March. Our theme of Storytelling will offer you different opportunities to share your stories and come hear ours.

Adrienne has lined up a great set of programs with something for everyone including programs with music, gardening, reading, valentines, goal setting, knitting, authors, book mending, and of course stories!

* Saturday, January 12, 5:30 p.m.
WSU Master Gardener’s will host a Native Plant workshop. Bring your gardening questions!

* Sunday, January 13, 3:30 p.m.
Meet local author, Jean Hendrickson, and hear about her new book We All Have a Purpose for Being Here: A Memoir.

* Thursday, January 24, 6:00 p.m.
Minnie Kynch will host a goal setting workshop. Get a positive start on your New Years Resolutions! Registration is required.

* Friday, January 25, 7:00 p.m.
Spoken Word by the fireplace with Host Tom Odegard. Readings by special guest poets, George Smith and Mike Vouri, followed by open-mic.

* Sunday, February 3, 6:00 p.m.
Knit Lit Book Club discusses Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. Bring your knitting and cozy up for an evening of discussion in front of the fireplace. Check out your copy today!

* Friday, February 8, 6:00 p.m.
Make a Valentine! Supplies provided to make as many special handmade valentines as you can in two hours!

* Sunday, February 10, 7:00 p.m.
A special evening of family stories with guest performers Joe and Paula McHugh. Go to their website www.americanfamilystories.org/home.html to learn more about their work.

* Saturday, March 15, 10:00 a.m.
Book Mending Workshop with Edie deChadenedes. Back by demand this is always a very popular class!

* Saturday, March 22, 5:15 p.m.

* Friday March 28, 7:00 p.m.
"The Entertainment Value of the Right Hemisphere." Songs and stories by Alan Boyne and Tom Phillips.

* Saturday, March 29, 7:00 p.m.
Readings from local author and inventor, Alan Boyne, from his "The Origin of Silly Rationalizations."
