23rd Annual Friends of the San Juan Island Library Book Sale
posted 07/21/03
For those of you who have never been involved in the sale, the effort that goes into the setup is tremendous. Moving all the books to the school and getting them organized onto tables - even though they have been pre-sorted - is a daunting task. Signage and checkout tables must be located to make finding and purchasing your treasures easy, or at least not impossible. I keep thinking of my old high-school physics class where we learned about potential energy, or energy stored and ready to be released. It seems like there is so much anticipation and force stored up with all those books that is waiting to spring out and be converted into kinetic energy in the form of the event of the year! The Annual Book Sale will take place this weekend, Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26; we are back at our traditional location of the Elementary School on Grover St. this year. For newbies, Friday from 6 to 9 pm is a special sale open to members of the Friends of the Library only. If you are not a member but would like to be, you can join at the library or Friday night at the sale. Saturday the sale is open to the general public from 10 am to 2 pm. I hope to see you there!
