18-month-old Morgan MacCormack died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 after falling on a vacuum cleaner at her home on San Juan Island. Sheriff Bill Cumming said it appears the old vacuum cleaner had electrical problems and the child stopped breathing after receiving an electrical shock.

Paramedics and EMTs gave CPR for more than 20 minutes but were unable to revive the child. The parents, Roberta and John and Morgan's 5-year-old sibling are devastated by the tragedy, Cumming said.

Dr. Marcia Zakarison pronounced Morgan dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death. The vacuum cleaner will be examined at a forensics lab.
