Preliminary results back on accident

Sheriff Bill Cumming said a verbal report by the state patrol indicates the brakes and steering were in working order on Brenda Cromer's car. The investigation is still open, Cumming said. The San Juan Island woman died after her Volkswagen crashed into a dump truck on Beaverton Valley Road Nov. 11, 2005. Witnesses say she drove through a stop sign on Egg Lake Road. A fund has been set up in Islanders Bank for her daughter Chelsea.
Fatal accident on San Juan Island

Brenda Starr Farrell Cromer, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene after her black Volkswagen struck a dump truck on Beaverton Valley Road around 8:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Witnesses say the San Juan Island woman drove around a car stopped at the stop sign on Egg Lake Road, went into the intersection and struck the truck. Beaverton Valley was closed for several hours after the crash as deputies conducted an investigation. They will try to determine if the Volkswagen had some mechanical failure which caused the crash.
Cromer is survived by her 16-year-old daughter Chelceea. An account is expected to be set up at Islanders Bank to help with expenses.
