Confidence greets Victoria firefighters

Confidence raises sinking boat

Friday Harbor firefighters used the Confidence to pump water out of a sinking boat Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003. Divers from the sheriff's office were ready to search for the owner, who was thought to possibly be onboard. The owner is a cook at ET and usually lets someone know his whereabouts. Just before the divers began their search, the owner arrived at the scene.

Sheriff Bill Cumming said the boat sank due to the storm Saturday night, a leaking through hull and a problematic bilge pump. IOSA the oil spill response group was consulted. Kerosene from a heater was handled with absorbent pads.
