Cancer mapping project underway

The Cancer Support Group of San Juan County in partnership with the Web of Life is developing a demographic map of cancer occurrences within the county. The goal is to set up an incidence map that will detail whether there are clusters of cancer incidents in the county or not. If there are, is there a common environmental factor to be explored?
Munsey says, "Gathering information for mapping is difficult due to respect of the privacy of cancer-stricken persons, so we are asking for cancer information to be volunteered for the map. Presently, the information needed is type of cancer and County geographic location of the afflicted person or persons with the understanding that confidentiality is a significant concern for us."
