Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call and found a 42-year-old Friday Harbor man with cuts and bruises. His shirt was torn. A 30-year-old Friday Harbor woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

A 34 year-old Friday Harbor man reported his puppy was stolen from outside a convenience store in Friday Harbor.

Someone took a light bulb from the rear of Lopez Island Post Office. The thief would have needed a ladder to reach the light bulb.

A 39-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested because of two warrants from Seattle and one from San Juan County.

A six-string minature guitar was found in Sunken Park in Friday Harbor.

A stereo was taken from an unlocked car parked in Eastsound.

A 56-year-old Alamo, California woman believes someone has been staying in her Roche Harbor condo because she has received high utility bills and it appears the furniture has been moved.

A 58-year-old Bothell woman reported a UPS package was missing from Center Island. It contained $50 worth of knives.

A deputy saw a white car in a field off Roche Harbor Road. An investigation revealed an intoxicated man and woman had contacted a nearby homeowner at 4 a.m. The driver later contacted the sheriff's office and said he couldn't remember much because he had been drunk. There was $100 damage to a fence.

A 53-year-old Eastsound woman reported her vehicle's rear window was damaged while she worked in Eastsound.

$1 million of marijuana transported on Friday Harbor/Anacortes ferry

Two Canadians were arrested in Anacortes April 28, 2004 after 356 pounds of "BC Bud" was found in a boat they were towing. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agent in Friday Harbor saw something suspicious when he observed a 1990 Ford Ranger pickup truck towing the 19-foot Zodiac onto the Anacortes-bound ferry in Friday Harbor.

He alerted CBP officers and Border Patrol agents in Anacortes. They searched the boat and found the marijuana worth an estimated $1 million. During the course of the investigation, a third Canadian man was taken into custody.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency are both in the Department of Homeland Security. "This joint operation conducted at a major transportation hub is exemplary of the seamless web of enforcement DHS is envisioned for our international borders and highlights the level of achievement that results from sharing resources, intelligence and a "can do" attitude that is characteristic of CBP, " said Public Affairs Officer Joseph W. Giuliano in a press release. "The aggressive pursuit of derivative investigations such as this by ICE investigators further demonstrates how the various agencies within DHS can - and do - work together for the common good of our Nation and its people."

A 35-year-old Eastsound man was pulled over for driving with a cracked windshiel. He was issued a citation and arrested because of an outstanding warrant.

One side of a plastic mailbox, belonging to a 60-year-old Eastsound man, was burnt.

Rubber plugs were removed from axles of two trailers used to haul garbage out of the Eastsound transfer station. The plugs plugs keep gear oil from leaking out.

A two-foot tall concrete buddha was taken from the front yard of a Friday Harbor restaurant.

A camcorder found on North Beach Road was taken to the Eastsound sheriff substation.

A 43-year-old Friday Harbor man found what he thought was a grave in his backyard. The area was three feet wide and five feet long. He was clearing brush when he found an area three feet wide and five feet long which had a sheet of plastic in it. He called the sheriff. No human artifacts were found.

April 21, 2004

A burglary was reported at the Lopez Island transfer station. The thiefs broke two windows and took $6.75 in quarters.

A 28-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested for third-degree driving while license suspended or revoked.

April 20, 2004

A 19 year old Friday Harbor man reported someone wrote "see you in court" in dirt on his car. He suspected an 18-year-old Friday Harbor woman since she is the only one who has taken him to court.

A 29-year-old Friday Harbor woman reported her 13-year-old daughter had run away.

A 24-year-old Friday Harbor man was pulled over for driving with studded tires. He was arrested for third-degree driving while license suspended or revoked.

A 43-year-old Friday Harbor woman trying to refinance her mortgage discovered two accounts in collection even though she had not ever opened the accounts. She filed an identity theft affadavit. An investigation is continuing.

A 40 year -old Friday Harbor woman arrested warrant while at work in Friday Harbor because of a warrant issued in Bellingham.

April 18, 2004

A 43-year-old Eastsound man reported the theft of trees. He thought a previous renter had cut down 20 to 30 trees and sold them for firewood.

A 52-year-old Buckley woman complained about a pit bull dog running loose on Stuart Island. A deputy contacted the dog's 32-year-old owner. The owner said the dog was friendly and all the full-time residents liked the dog. The deputy explained the law to the dog owner. The dog owner said he would contact the part-time resident and introduce her to the dog to see if that helped the situation.

April 17, 2004

A 34-year-old Eastsound man was pulled over and cited for having expired plates, a faulty brake light and driving while license suspended or revoked.

April 16, 2004

A 16 year old Eastsound boy’s intermediate driver's license was taken away after he rolled his car while trying to do donuts on Orcas Island baseball field.

April 15, 2004

A 59-year-old Eastsound man reported someone entered his boat which was sitting on a trailer in his backyard and removed electronics and two engine gauges valued at $350.

April 14, 2004

A 44-year-old Seattle man was arrested for driving while under the influence in Eastsound.

April 9, 2004

A 37-year-old Mount Vernon man was pulled over in Eastsound for speeding. He was cited for third-degree driving while license suspended or revoked, speeding in a school zone, not having insurance and for having expired plates.
