March 31 A 40-year-old Friday harbor man reported his neighbors were violating a restraining order. A 36-year-old San Juan Island woman returned from picking up her son from baseball practice and found someone had flattened the dirt in an area they had been playing in. She is involved in a property dispute with a neighbor and plans to file an anti-harassment order. A large black shepard mix dog with a white star on its chest was found in a field off Roche Harbor Road with a dead sheep. The dog ran off before it could be caught. It fits the description of a dog which killed sheep in the same area last year. |

March 30 A 44-year-old Eastsound man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after deputies responded to a report of an unwanted person on premises. March 29 A 41-year-old Eastsound man was arrested for dui after he was pulled over for speedking on Crescent Beach Drive. Two dogs running at large were caught on Sperry Peninsula. Deputies contacted the owner and told him dogs must be under control. Two oars floated into marina transient ships after high wind days. The oars were labeled Carter and WN 893 BB-2. The oars are at the Lopez substation. A 28-year-old Eastsound woman reported receiving calls regarding over due accounts during the past year. She had never opened the accounts. Through a collection agency she was able to find out who had used her social security number to open the accounts. She was referred to the Social Security Dept. and the San Diego Police Dept. March 28 43-year-old Eastsound woman's 1999 Kia sustained $1,500 damage while parked in Eastsound grocery store parking lot. A Piper aircraft landed off the runway. The pilot reported his brakes went mush and wouldn't work. There were no injuries. The plane received damage to the right wing and tail section. A 40-year-old Friday Harbor woman was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Thurston County. Deputies were called to a Friday Harbor bar regarding an unwanted customer. A 43-year-old Friday Harbor man who was under court orders not to enter any bars was there and was intoxicated. He complained of chest pains and was airlifted to the mainland. March 27 Someone cut four tires on a car belonging to a 24-year-old Roseburg Oregon man and three tires on a car belonging to a 20-year-old Lopez Island woman. The cars were parked overnight in Lopez. March 26 A 43-year-old Friday Harbor man was cited for violation of court orders after he was observed to be intoxicated in the county Courthouse. He tested .115 on the breathalyzer test. March 25 A 33-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested for second-degree driving while license suspended or revoked, no helmet, expired vehicle license, failure to have lights on . March 24 A 20-year-old Sedro-Woolley man was skating in and out of traffic on Spring Street. He refused to stop for a sheriff's deputy. He fled and left his backpack. Another deputy put the backpack in his car. The suspect approached the second deputy and lunged for the backpack. A struggle ensued. The suspect skated away, fell and was apprehended. He was cited for violation of court orders, minor possessing/consuming alcohol, skating in town streets, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct. March 23 A Deer Harbor woman complained about a brown lab named Rosie constantly showing up at her home. Deputies responded and found the dog at her home. Deputies contacted the dog's owner who blamed the woman, saying she fed the dog and encouraged it to go to her house. The woman denies the claim. She hesitated to call deputies because of a letter she received from the dog's owner after a previous report. The letter threatened a lawsuit. Deputies told the dog's owner he must not allow his dog to run loose. A 63-year-old Deer Harbor caretaker reported someone had broken into a cabin and used it for one day. A 27-year-old Friday harbor man turned himself in for outstanding warrants. March 19 A 48-year-old Kennewick man reported $200 damage to his truck which was parked in Eastsound. 56-year-old Seattle woman reported a flag was removed from a condo building in Friday Harbor. March 18 A 22-year-old Orcas woman left her purse in a restroom in an Orcas Island restaurant. She returned in a half an hour but it was gone. She told deputies she was worried about identity theft. A 35-year-old Eastsound man, pulled over for speeding, was cited for driving under the influence. March 17, 2002 March 17, 2002 57-year-old Friday Harbor woman reported a prowler in an attached garage of a home she was caretaking. Deputies could not find any sign of a prowler. March 15, 2002 19-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was also cited for minor in possession of alcohol. A 39-year-old Friday Harbor man contacted deputies after his debit card was stolen and used to purchase a MCI prepaid phone card. MCI told him they had tracked the purchase to one of their customers. A 42-year-old Eastsound woman discovered her fleece jacket, makeup, cigarette lighter, and cash were taken from her unlocked car parked next to her business in Eastsound. March 14 $148.98 worth of wine was taken from a cabinet in an Eastsound restaruant. March 13 A 39-year-old Friday Harbor man and a 37-year-old Friday Harbor woman reported a video camera was removed from their unlocked home. A 20-year-old Friday Harbor man was cited for minor in possession of alcohol. March 12, A Lopez Island man called 911 after he saw a vessel tip over and a man in the water. The boater, a 44-year-old Lopez Island man said the water came in to his boat from a hull breach. The Elwha ferry crew launched a rescue boat and took the man to shore. He declined medical treatment. March 11 A bench from the Orcas Island Library was tipped over and thrown over an embankment. 35-year-old Roche Harbor man was cited for disorderly conduct at a Friday Harbor tavern. March 10 A resident heard a crash in a Friday Harbor apartment building parking lot and called deputies. One driver had struck another car and driven off. A 38-year-old Eastsound man contacted deputies after he observed a 30-year-old Seattle man shoplift an item from an Eastsound store. The Seattle man was arrested at the ferry landing. Someone broke a mirror off of a county Public Works truck. A GPS handheld Airmap unit valued at $600 was stolen from an unlocked car parked in Eastsound. March 9 A 20-year-old Friday Harbor man was cited for negligient driving after he was observed passing in a no-passing zone near a corner during adverse weather conditions. March 7 A digital camera, and Dewalt multi tool kit were taken from the unlocked cab of a truck in Eastsound. March 6 A 49-year-old Eastsound man was sent a warning letter after his dog was observed running at large. A 52-year-old Friday Harbor man reported his custom-made mailbox - blue airplane with wings tail and a prop - was stolen. A renter reported his absentee landlord's car had been damaged at her Lopez Island property. March 5 A 45-year-old Friday Harbor man was stopped for speeding on Bailer Hill Road. He was cited for third-degree driving while license suspended or revoked. March 4 A CD case was found on Ivan Road and turned into the sheriff's office. A deputy saw an 18-year-old male violating curfew at a high school dance. A 15-year-old Eastsound boy reported someone removed his wallet from his gym locker. Deputies were called after a 52-year-old Eastsound man became angry and belligerent at the school library. He told deputies he was upset by a group of noisy teenagers and dropped an encyclopedia on the check out desk. He denied throwing the book at two teachers. He was asked to leave and will no longer be allowed in the school library. A 56-year-old Eastsound man reported an anchor, chain and line were missing from his boat which had sund in Blind Bay. March 3 A 29-year-old man reported his jacket was stolen from the American Legion Hall in Eastsound. His wallet and a MP3 player were in the jacket. March 2 A 31-year-old Eastsound man saw two men running away from his parked truck. He discovered scratches on the rear of truck. March 1 A 23-year-old Friday Harbor woman arrested for second-degree malicious mischief after damaging ex-boyfriends windshield wipers and windshield. A 31-year-old Friday Harbor man was pulled over for no taillights and brakelights. Check revealed outstanding warrant from Chelan County. Posted $1,000 bail and released. An Australian shepard and a collie were taken into custody after they were found running at large. A warning letter was issued to the dog's owners. |
