A Friday Harbor woman's 2000 Honda was hit in the Mercantile parking lot in Friday Harbor. A mail box on Argyle was stolen. A 33-year-old Friday Harbor man was stopped by deputies for driving with a badly damaged windshield and obscured license plates. A check revealed he did not have a driver's license or insurance. He was cited for third-degree driving with license suspended or revoked. May 28, 2000
A 16-year-old Lopez male was arrested for minor in possession. Deputies shot and killed a badly injured deer. A 29-year-old Berkley, California woman left her bag at an Eastsound restaurant. She called and was told it had been found. When she picked it up the next morning her wallet with credit cards and $140 cash was missing. A 25-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested for speeding and driving under the influence. May 27, 2000
A 36-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested for third-degree driving with license suspended or revoked. May 26, 2000
Deputies accompanied a 63-year-old Eastsound man to his property where he asked a 47-year-old Eastsound man to vacate the property. The man refused to leave. It is now a civil matter. A Roche Harbor Road home owner was cited after deputies responded to the fourth false alarm at his home this year. There have been 14 since 1997. May 25, 2000

Sometime between May 11 and 14 someone removed a handmade sign --"Old McDonald Lane" -- from Shaw Island. Four names were listed on the 40-inch high sign. Anyone with information about the sign is asked to call the sheriff's office at 360.378.4151. May 13, 2000
Someone broke into Orcas Island Golf Course clubhouse and stole $30 cash and two bags of Tim's Cascade Jalapeno-flavor chips. A San Juan Island farmer shot a husky-type dog who was chasing his sheep. The dog's owner, a 37-year-old woman, found the dog and took him to the vet. She told deputies someone must have let her dog out. May 12, 2000
Deputies arrested a 24-year-old Friday Harbor woman at her place of work on violation of release conditions and second-degree trespass. Bail was set at $5,000. May 11, 2000
A 24-year-old Friday Harbor woman arrested in connection with the May 9 assault on her former boyfriend and a 21-year-old woman was released at 2 p.m. One of the conditions of her release, was no contact with the woman. At 4:30 p.m. she violated the terms of her release. May 10, 2000

At 1:30 a.m. a Friday Harbor man heard the door of his truck close. He looked out his bedroom window and saw his blue Isuzu pickup truck being driven east on Park Street. Tools, equipment, two pairs of sunglasses and two speakers were in the truck which was unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Four street signs, one stop sign and one 25 MPH sign were reported missing from Eastsound roads. The cost is estimated between $35 and $50 for each sign and $50 for labor to install them. May 7, 2000
A Friday Harbor store owner opened a backpack which had been left in his store for three days. Inside he found a loaded .38 revolver. ID in the backpack belonged to a 48-year-old Anacortes man. Sheriff's deputies took the backpack and its contents into evidence. Someone stole two 20" chrome BMX-style bikes belonging to two Eastsound boys, one 16-year-old and a 14-year-old. The boys had custom-built the bikes themselves. A 50-year-old Friday Harbor restaurant owner left her purse on the porch of her business. When she returned it was gone. The next day it was hanging on the gate. Her identification and credit cards were inside, $586 cash was missing. A $5,000 gold wedding ring and a VCR were stolen from a home in Eastsound sometime between May 4 and May 7. May 6, 2000
A 30-year-old Lopez man was caught smoking marijuana in the parking lot of a bar. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. A 39-year-old Eastsound man was issued a notice of infraction for first-degree nuisance dog at large. His dog got away from him and was chasing the neighbors's kids. May 5, 2000
A 45-year-old Eastsound man told deputies he and his girlfriend had been fighting the night before. They drove off in separate vehicles. She kept bumping the rear of his gold Lincoln Towne car with her gray BMW. He got mad and hit his brakes. She rearended him. He did not want to press charges, just wanted to let the deputy know what happened. A 47-year-old Friday Harbor woman was arrested for third-degree theft after she concealed a bottle of wine under her coat and left a Friday Harbor grocery store without paying. A 15-year-old Eastsound boy was arrested on a bench warrant and taken to Skagit County juvenile detention facility. Sheriff's deputies held three undocumented aliens until immigration officials from Blaine could pick them up. May 4, 2000
A Friday Harbor woman parked her Honda Civic in a field, because her driveway was blocked due to roadwork. The next day she discovered damage to the left rear corner of the trunk. Deputies are investigating. May 1, 2000
