FESTIVAL OF TREES 2002

CATS make spirits bright in 2002

The 14th Annual Festival of Trees raised more than $57,000 in its live auction Saturday, December 7, 2002. The Community Theatre Arts Society (CATS) annual fundraiser features live and silent auctions and entertainment. The sold out crowd bid on items ranging from 1,400 pound granite sculptures to Christmas wreaths.

The proceeds support the capital project needs of San Juan Community Theatre. This year CATS is funding the conversion of the Gubelman Room into a black box theatre.

Jennie Inch, Festival of Trees program chair, dedicated the event to the memory of Paul Whittier, Ed Weed, George Thorson, Martha and Herb Gubelman, Stan Kramer, Dan Webber, Doug Corliss, Bev Steele, Liz Bowen and Elaine Beubien. The event was sponsored by Coldwell Banker Co, Islanders Bank, San Juan Vineyards, Friday Harbor Realty and Harrison House Suites.

One of the six trees auctioned off was covered with Santas.
