The Fest's main events will occur on Saturday nights. On December 6 the official lighting of the Port of Friday Harbor's Marina will occur at 5:30 p.m. Visitors can walk the docks and view the decorated boats and yachts. The annual San Juan Island Lighted Boat Parade and Santa Ship, sponsored by the Friday Harbor Sailing Club, will take place at 5:30 p.m. December 13 in Friday Harbor. Approximately two dozen lighted and decorated boats will parade around the harbor, the last boat delivering Santa to the docks. Santa will then board a fire engine and make his way to Friday Harbor Middle School to meet and greet children. On December 20, Roche Harbor will host a lighted boat parade at 5:30 p.m., also sponsored by the Friday Harbor Sailing Club. Their new Christmas Village will also be open. Many Friday Harbor shops and galleries will stay open late on Friday and Saturday nights during the holidays. There are many lodging specials available at inns and B&Bs. In addition, the Port of Friday Harbor is offering boaters showing receipts of $100.00 or more from shopping in town one free night's moorage. Receipts must be dated between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the free night must be redeemed at that time as well. Receipts may not include alcohol or tobacco products. |
