Tree lighting in Eastsound

Orcas Island children gathered around Santa and Mrs. Claus for gifts and hugs Friday, Dec. 7 as the Community Band played in the Village Green in Eastsound. Hot cider and cookies kept the crowd happy as they waited for the countdown for the tree lighting.
After the tree lit up with hundreds of colorful bulbs, the crowd dispersed and many wandered through downtown shops which stayed open late to accommodate holiday shoppers.
