Colors Ceremonies are held each night at sunset at Roche Harbor Village during the busy season. The Fourth of July ceremony is a special tribute to Bob Tangney who died in a Fourth of July accident in 1971. At the time the Roche Harbor Resort was owned by Rueben Tarte. Tangney was Rueben Tarte's son-in-law and helped the family run the resort.

Every Fourth of July, some of Tarte's grandchildren present the Colors and then jump into the water.
