posted 04/27/03
The murder of Sheriff Take Noble was solved last night by a posse at Paradise Saloon. The murder mystery dinner raised funds for Dollars for Scholars. A four-course dinner was prepared by the Front Street Ale House and served by Battery D.

Tony Vivenzio directed. Stage manager Lynda Guernsey was assisted by John Boyd. Keith Busha did the lights, Minnie Kynch was the producer. Ann Kiernan and Leisha Holmes painted the backdrop and Doug Bison provided artifacts.

Dollars for Scholars, a locally operated and supported, non-profit, tax-exempt scholarship foundation formed in 1999. In the past three years, the organization has awarded more than $65,000.

Rowdy Azell (Jonathan Taylor) and Sally Forth (Susan Lembcke) had a few secrets of their own.

Doc Mallard (John Jensen) and Buffalo Bob (Bob Jarman) kept an eye on things.

Saloon girls Lynda Guernsey, Megan Vivenzio and Tamara Brower posed with assistant stage manager John Boyd after the mystery was solved.

Saloon girl (Lynda Guernsey) and Juan Bandito (Eugene Cuomo) shared a few laughs.

Bibi Gunn (Denice Brown) and Molly McCoy (Caris Pruitt).

Several posses suspected Miss Patience (Jessica Griss) was the murderer. They were wrong.

Undersheriff Jon Zerby portrayed Deputy Zerby and was wrongly accused by one confused posse.

BULLETS & BARBECUE

posted 04/09/03
It is the Wild West in the year 1872. On a clear July morning, dawn is just breaking over the tiny frontier town of Drygulch when a single gunshot rings out. The townsfolk rush to the scene and are horrified to find their sheriff, Take Noble, sprawled in the dust, dead from a gunshot wound. He was bushwhacked from behind and here are the suspects.

JUAN BANDITO ~ Juan is a Mexican bandit and the meanest hombre this side of the Rio Grande. He's killed 11 men and one snake. But, he has a softer side and he really likes the ladies. He stopped in Drygulch to give his beloved horse, Chico, a rest and to wash down the trail dust with a shot of redeye whiskey. That was when the trouble began. Juan admits to killing men before. Is the sheriff just another notch on his big six gun?

SALLY FORTH ~ Sally is the beautiful English lady who recently traveled to America to become the sheriff's mail-order bride. She arrived in Drygulch last week, but it was not exactly love at first sight. The sheriff had exaggerated his handsome features and wealthy ranch holdings. Sally is very fashionable and looks out of place on the frontier but she says she was willing to try to make a go of it with homely Sheriff Noble. Do you believe her?

ROWDY AZELL ~ Rowdy is a smooth-talking, fast-dealing gambler. He travels from town to town making his living with a deck of cards and a pair of dice. He has an eye for the ladies and no scruples about having his way with them. He is never without a deck of cards and a wad of bills for poker ante. The sheriff caught him trying to cheat some greenhorns in a poker game. Would that be enough motive to kill the sheriff?

MISS PATIENCE ~ ~ She is the town's prim and pretty school marm. Although she looks too sweet and innocent to be a suspect, she was engaged to the sheriff until he mysteriously cancelled the marriage plans three months ago. Neither Miss Patience nor the sheriff would say why. Miss Patience punishes her students for cheating with a wooden ruler across the knuckles. Would her punishment be more severe if she caught the sheriff cheating?

DOC MALLARD ~ Doc has been doctorin' the good folks of Drygulch for the past thirty years. He has patched bullet holes, mended broken bones and delivered babies. He has lost a few patients but that was mostly due to their bad luck. His black suit is threadbare but versatile because he can also serve as the undertaker. He does not put much stock in new fangled medical ideas, but he does always carry a flask in his medical bag - for medicinal purposes only. Was the sheriff just another unlucky patient?

BIBI GUNN ~ Bibi is an entertainer working at the Paradise Saloon. Bibi always wears scanty outfits and lots of heavy makeup. Her ostrich feather headband and high heels give her a very seductive look. The cowboys come from miles around to hear her sing and watch her dance. She flirts and teases them into buying drinks and after they get skunk-eyed, they reveal all sorts of profitable secrets. If there's trouble she's prepared with the derringer she keeps in her garter. She's armed. Did she have a motive?

MOLLY MCCOY ~ Molly is mysterious. She arrived in town just after the sheriff was shot (or so she says). You don't really suspect her do you? She's the one who invited you here to help solve the crime! Sheriff Noble was a friend of hers- or so she says. Sheriff Noble never mentioned her. She did have the opportunity. Does she have a motive?

BUFFALO BOB ~ He doesn't hunt buffalo, he just smells like one. Bob has been hanging around the Paradise Saloon as long as anyone can remember. He's the first in the bar when it opens and last to leave at night. Maybe he doesn't leave. Nobody knows where he sleeps. Bob is known for asking if he can sample other people's drinks. He may have some insight into who done it though. Is there more than one reason why something doesn't quite smell right here? Bob is known for asking if he can sample other people's drinks. He may have some insight into who done it though so listen if he share's information with you.

You have been deputized to help solve the crime. Pay close attention, clues will be disclosed at the oddest times...
