Eight leave Spring Street ready for the world

More than 200 people applauded as the eight members of Spring Street School Class of 2001 graduated Sunday, June 10. The small class had two valedictorians -- Joe Spadafora and Derin Ross. Spadafora performed a rap version of his speech. Ross followed her speech with a heartfelt thanks to her mom, Jana Ross -- senior Mom extraordinaire.

Guest speaker, Dr. Frank James, expounded on Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hahn's five principles on how to be happy.

After speeches, slide show, presentation of scholarships and diplomas, the graduates and guests gathered in the Gubelman Room. Brenda Morbauch presented a button blanket to Ross. Morbauch made it in the spirit of Ross' accomplishments and recognition of the graduate's accomplishments.
