A dozen graduate June 12posted 06/13/03
The youngest graduate was 17 years old, the oldest was 55-years-old. Seven of the students graduated with honors, two graduated with high honors. The grade point average for the class was 3.45. The highest GPA, 3.96, belonged to Micah Hogan. | |

Retiring Professor Francie Kisko was honored for her work in the English Dept. (Above) A 2000 graduate, Lynn Davidson spoke about her experiences in Kisko's classes. (Below) SVCSJC Director Colleen Clancy presented a sundial to Kisko.
Many of the center's adjunct professors were present for the ceremonies.
Vail McClure made history as the first SVCSJC student to complete her degree through the Washington State University distance learning program.
Skagit Valley President Dr. Gary Tollefson, Vice President of Educational Services Susan Tinker and Board of Trustees Chair Elizabeth Hancock handed the diplomas to the students.
Faculty members congratulated the graduates after the ceremony.

Colleen Smith of Lopez Island was the 2003 Graduate Class speaker. On behalf of the class, she thanked the faculty and staff of San Juan Center. She also thanked her mom for her support. In closing, she read Langston Hughes poem I Dream A World.
Gretchen Wilhelm and Roberta Leed sang a duet accompanied by Sonja Zarek on keyboards.
Graduates and their relatives enjoyed the refreshments after the ceremony. |
