Golden time at Roche Harbor egg hunt

Elise DeAlmeida of Mount Vernon, Hana Goldroot of Woodenville and Fiona Chism of Samamish teamed up to hunt Easter eggs. The friends lucked out and found the golden egg in the fireplace. Fiona's family has spent every Easter weekend at Lonesome Cove Resort since she was three-months-old.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was an international affair at Roche Harbor April 17, 2006. Holly Perry from Little Arlington, England found one of the golden eggs hidden in the garden. The silver and golden eggs were traded in for gift baskets. The lucky winners were:

Age 3 and Under:

  • GOLD: Eden Light - Friday Harbor
  • SILVER: Ila Ridwan - Friday Harbor

Age 4-6:

  • GOLD: Holly Perry - Little Arlington, England
  • SILVER: Matthew McCallum - Friday Harbor

Age 7-11:

  • GOLD: Emma Brand and Elly Goudy - Friday Harbor
  • SILVER: Elise DeAlmeida - Mount Vernon

Kerrie Wilson's guess of 892 was exactly right for the number of jelly beans in the jar and she won a prize. Other prizes were given for the most eggs collected.

Roche Harbor General Manager Brent Snow (pictured interviewing Elise DeAlmeida) kept the crowds warmed up with his creative holiday patter which included plenty of Roche Harbor trivia, history and humor. He noted if the county ever had an emergency which required "quickly picking up 3,000 of anything, this is good training."
