Missoula Children's Theatre returns

Missoula Children's Theatre returns to Friday Harbor July 14 to 19, 2003 to present "Hansel and Gretel". For almost 30 years, MCT has provided quality education, entertainment and enrichment for all ages through the performing arts.

Auditions begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14. The troupe will cast 50-60 local elementary and secondary school students (ages 5-17) through open auditions in a musical adaptation of the classic Grimm's fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. Among the roles to be cast are the intrepid adventurers Hansel and Gretel, crafty cooks, creepy crawly nasties, and cuddly Wallybirds.

Lines, staging, songs and dances are learned in 4-1/2 hours of intensive rehearsal each day, culminating in two performances on the Whittier stage at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. July 19, complete with scenery, costumes, props and makeup.

Downriggers and Daisy Bloom co-sponsor this summertime favorite. Tickets for performances are $11 for adults, $6 for children, and are available from the Theatre box office. The SJCT Box Office is open Tu-Sat., and one hour before any show. Call 378.3210, or visit www.sanjuanarts.org.
