Las Posadas, a bilingual celebration, began and ended at St. David's Episcopal Church last night (December 16, 2002). Curly the pony filled in for Henry the donkey who was too old to carry Mary from place to place. Mary (Daisy Ochoa) and Joseph (Dick Barnes) were turned away at four inns (Islands Convalescent Center, Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church, David Waldron's office and Printonyx) before finding a place to stay. Rocky Christensen led Curly the pony who was filling in for Henry the donkey who was too old to carry Mary from place to place.

Participants in the candlelight procession sang En Nombre del Cielo (Pray Give Us Lodging) at each of the four stops. A short service followed the procession.

Refreshments were served in the Undercroft. The grand finale was the pinata. Children took turns whacking the pinata until it burst. They quickly scooped up the candy that fell out.
