The San Juan Yacht Club will be open to the public after the parade. Friday Harbor High School Jazz Band will perform and light snacks will be served. The Friday Harbor parade will start at 5:30 p.m. The participating boats will rendezvous in front of Jensen’s Marina. The lead boat will be the 65-foot vessel High Hopes II with skipper Wayne Aldo. ALL communications between the High Hopes II and the parade fleet will be on Ch-72. The High Hopes II will be in contact with the shore commander via intercom, however it is requested that all participants continue to monitor CH-16 at all times. The parade route will be the same as last year, proceeding from in front Jensen’s Marina towards town, past the Port of Friday Harbor Marina along the shoreline to abreast of the U of W labs. This will be the end of the parade and the dispersal area, or if condition allow, the parade will continue past the U of W labs back to area in front of Jensen’s Marina. Santa’s boat will be the last in the parade, bringing Santa into Spring Street Landing. The community is encouraged to give him a hearty Island welcome as he comes ashore. The parade has been scheduled so as not to interfere with the ferry traffic. For additional information please call Ken Fuller at (360) 370 5029 or e-mail lilyken@rockisland.com. If you need information about the Roche Harbor lighted boat parade please call Roche Harbor Resort at (360) 378 2155. Santa Ship 2002Photos by Sharon Kivisto
