It wasn't only the swimmers who got soaked at the 7th Annual Jon Pettingill Memorial Triathlon June 21, 2003. The wet weather didn't faze the winner, Omar Shokeir of Bellingham. "The harder they are the better it is," he said. Full results.

A .4 mile swim was the first leg of the event.

The competitors made a quick change and began the 22 mile bike ride.

Dennis Schaffer quickly finished the swim only to discover a flat tire on his bike.
