Judges were busy on the first day of the 2003 San Juan County Fair awarding ribbons for everything from rabbits to llamas.

Youngsters tried their hand at "milking" a cow. Local bands performed. Zucchini racers drew a crowd.

The food court was full as fairgoers filled up on corn dogs, sno-cones and deep-fried twinkies.
