25 days to Opening Day of the 2008 San Juan County Fair
We began a 26-day alphabetical countdown Friday night, July 18. The 2008 San Juan County Fair opens Wednesday, August 13 and runs through Saturday, August 16. Information about the fair is available online at www.sanjuancountyfair.org.
A is for Awards. Participants can earn awards in many different categories. But we'll focus on the 4-H Equine Awards.
The awards include:
- 4-H Junior Horse Judging Award
A perpetual trophy sponsored by Rex and Lisa Guard and a keeper plaque sponsored by Islanders Insurance.
- Grace and Joseph Ohrbeck Junior Horse Performance Showmanship
A perpetual trophy is awarded to the Junior Performance Showmanship Champion. A keeper plaque is sponsored by Miles and LouEllenMcCoy.
- Western Games Junior Showmanship A perpetual trophy and keeper is awarded to the Junior Western Games Showmanship Champion. Sponsored by Tom Brown Construction.
- Dressage/Jumping Junior Showmanship
A perpetual trophy is awarded to the Junior Dressage/Jumping Showmanship Champion. Sponsored by Tom Brown Construction.

4-H Western Games High Point Junior
A perpetual trophy sponsored by Guard Electric and Halter Keeper sponsored by Island Marine Center will be given to the youth of the Junior 4-H Division, who accumulates
the most points during the Fair.

- Cherie Williams Horse 4-H Showmanship Award
A perpetual trophy awarded to the Intermediate Performance Showmanship Champion. Sponsored by False Bay Farms.

A perpetual trophy and keeper awarded to the Intermediate Western Games Showmanship Champion. Sponsored by an anonymous donor.

4-H State Fair Qualifier Ribbons
