Swan Song for I'm Looking for a BailoutOne year later... Hello, posted 02/04/2010 We were on several local TV stations channels 7 and 5 and the exciting CNN HLN with Chuck Roberts interviewing me on national TV! I had folks from around the world who were traveling tell me that they had witnessed the moment from Mexico, Hawaii, and one even in Japan. The idea was to raise as much money as possible via the sales of the tune on such venues as Itunes, Amazon mp3 etc. The foundation was of course deeply hoping to make a difference for a great number of needy people in different situations. Though the money never came, the dream proceeded to travel around the world! We grossed less than a grand total of $75.00 over the last year. Disappointing yes, but only because I (we) sincerely wanted to help make a difference for some people brought down to hard times. We are deeply rewarded for the attention the idea grabbed. I watched last night's Grammy Awards and saw that a song was created for the folks in Haiti and with the proceeds going to help their cause. Though I don't claim to be the originator of the idea i.e. to turn a song's proceeds into assistance, I think we did contribute to the momentum and the awareness of what music can do. Perhaps in some distant way, it helped to spawn ideas like that and further the idea of this as a channel for assistance. For the fiscal record, the $75.00 brought in from sales was matched by my family and a total of $150.00 which was sent to the Red Cross to directly help those in real need in Haiti. I would like to thank the following: Tami Doenges (my bride) for listening to another one of my crazy ideas and pushing me on to complete it with her guiding love. We also recorded the song inside of four hours, start to finish; including mixing! Nice singing darling! Cecil Demerlier for his studio expertise and bass playing on the track Steve Keys and Roger McGilvery for their passion, contribution, energy and performance in the making of the video. (We still have people ask how we got that sound in a garage!) You guys pulled it off magnificently! Vicki D Productions for her fantastic enthusiasm in her job and capturing of the video of THE BAILOUTS at Car Quest on a cold day in early Feb 2009. Your ideas were amazing and your energy was just relentless. Orcas Podcasts for broadcasting and supporting us! Thank you! Gary Gibbons for your air waves and support getting me on Internet radio both locally and nationally, to push the idea as far as the stations watts could take it. I love you for that Gary! Thank you. To all of you in Friday Harbor and the San Juan Islands who supported the purchase and furthered the message to help us get around the world...literally! FINALLY A HUGE THANK YOU TO: The news at: www.sanjuanislander.com and www.islandguardian.com for your coverage, momentum and support for this whole project! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will keep the YouTube video on line indefinitely. Enjoy! I see it is just under 10,000 hits right now. Not bad for a geek from Friday Harbor! Thank you all!

Local musician rocks the recession on CNN
posted 03/14/2009 You can view the video clip of Friday's interview at www.cnn.com/video/ then click on the i-reports tab and look for 'rocking the recession'. The video can be viewed on YouTube. Download the tune for a $1 and half the money goes to create the "I'm Looking for a Bailout foundation". Revenue from the song is used to create a foundation to help people who are looking for a bailout. This will allow other working men and women / families to submit: why they need a "bailout". The foundation then selects from the entries and distributes it to them. Already requests are coming in. Tom says, "We can help ourselves." Here's direct link to the song. Otherwise go to ITunes and type in "I'm Looking for a Bailout" in the search box. |
