Houston Taylor is a Real Hero

San Juan Island EMS nominated Houston for this award. A group from the islands will be attending the event to acknowledge Houston’s accomplishments. "Houston is a tremendous contributor to both Skagit Hospice and the community," said Wendy Lewis, Director of Clinical Services at Skagit Hospice. "He personally shepherded the creation of the Skagit Hospice team in San Juan County. At the same time, he made himself available twenty-four hours a day to anyone in the County who needed medical hospice service." The Real Heroes Breakfast is an annual American Red Cross event that celebrates "ordinary people who do extraordinary things" for their community by acts of personal courage, humanity and community spirit. The award recipients are selected by an independent panel based on nominations from the community. San Juan Island EMS is the tax supported, county EMS agency serving the residents and visitors of San Juan Island, Town of Friday Harbor, Brown Island, Stuart Island, Johns Island, Speiden Island, Pearl Island and Henry Island in San Juan County, Washington. It provides emergency medical services, critical care transport, and injury and accident prevention. The staff of career paramedics and volunteer EMTs is available twenty-four hour a day. |
