Open House kicks off FH UW Centennial

The Friday Harbor Labs May 3, 2003 Open House began with a kelp cutting ceremony. The biannual event was an opportunity for islanders to meet scientists and students at the Labs and see the research and teaching facilities. Visitors took self-guided tours. Scientists and students showed their work and answered questions about studies of local waters and marine life.

The event kicked off a year-long celebration of the FH UW Lab centennial. The first classes were held in 1904. For more historical information check out this history of the Labs.
