County Commissioners yesterday (July 10) praised the quick action and bravery by county Public Works employees during the July 5 Mosswood Apartment building fire. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the six employees. Doug Brow and Bryan Posenjak spotted the fire and woke up the residents.
The two men and Dave Kitchen, Sharon Lowell, Neal Cale and Mark Rice then moved $250,000 worth of county road equipment away from the fire. The equipment was stored next to a shed located next to the apartment building on Guard Street.
Flammable liquids and propane gas tanks were removed from the county storage shed.The only county property lost in the fire was the storage shed and a few hoses.
