Fire guts storage unit

One storage unit at The Storage Place was destroyed in a fire Friday evening. Friday Harbor Fire Department responded and found one unit fully engulfed and gasoline running down the pavement.
A second alarm was called and units from San Juan County District No. 3 arrived.
"The potential was huge," said Friday Harbor Fire Chief Bob Low. The storage unit that caught fire contained large amounts of flammable liquids and magnesium, a flammable metal. "Other storage units had flammable liquids in them." said Low. There was a car in the unit next to the one on fire.
The occupant of the storage unit, Ronald Aquilar, was injured in the fire and airlifted to the mainland. Low said he is expected to be released today.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
