Dec. 7, 2001
EMS and Fire personnel responded to the corner of Terrill Beach and Crescent Beach Roads following a report of a single vehicle accident in the late evening. The driver was evaluated for a forehead laceration and arm pain and transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center. The Sheriff was investigating the incident.

Emergency personnel were dispatched in the early morning hours to a Mount Woolard residence to aid a young girl under the influence of alcohol. She was transported by ambulance to the medical center for evaluation.

A North Beach resident was evaluated for decreased level of consciousness and transported by ambulance for Airlift to University of Washington Medical Center.

A paramedic and EMT's responded to a Rosario residence to aid a woman with back pain following a fall. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for examination.

A fire alarm activation was reported at a residence at the top of Buck Mountain in the late evening. Responding engines and fire personnel were unable to locate any signs of fire and the response was canceled.

Nov. 28, 2001
A paramedic and EMT's were dispatched to an Olga residence in the early morning hours following a report of a woman with knee and leg injuries following a fall. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center and subsequently to Island Hospital.

EMS personnel aided an Olga resident who had fallen. The man was not seriously injured. No transport was required.

Nov. 26, 2001
Aid Unit 21 was dispatched to an Eastsound residence to assist a woman with back pain from a 10 foot fall from a ladder. She was transferred by ambulance to the Orcas Medical Center for evaluation and subsequently by fixed wing aircraft to Island Hospital.

Aid Unit 22 was used to transport a patient with heart attack symptoms from the Orcas Medical Center to the airport for airlift to St. Joseph's Hospital.

EMS personnel were dispatched to the Orcas High School following a report of a student with trauma to his right ankle. He was transported to the Orcas Island Medical Center for treatment.

An Olga resident experiencing chest pain was evaluated in the evening hours and transported by Airlift Northwest to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham.

A North Beach resident was reported to be having difficulty breathing and EMS personnel were dispatched to assist him. He was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation.

Nov. 22, 2001
Multiple fire units were dispatched to an Orcas Rd. residence following a report of smoke in the residence. The call was canceled after determining there was no house fire.

Nov. 21, 2001
A house fire was reported in the Beach Haven area. Fire personnel were dispatched with two engines and a tanker. EMS personnel were placed on stand-by. The fire was extinguished. It may have resulted from furniture too close to a stove. A portion of a floor was burned and there was extensive smoke damage to the residence.

Fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to the site of a vehicle vs deer accident which resulted in leg fractures to the driver. Investigation of the accident was continuing. The patient was transported to the Orcas Medical Center and subsequently by Airlift to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham.

EMS personnel responded to a Lavender Hollow residence to assist a resident. No transport was required.

Emergency Medical personnel were dispatched to evaluate a young girl with abdominal pain. She was not transported.

A fall injury was reported by a Hilltop Lane resident near the ferry landing. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for treatment.

EMS personnel transported a Bartel Rd. resident to the airport after evaluation of her condition indicated a severe internal bleeding. She was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a Green Cow Lane residence following reports of an unknown medical problem. The patient was evaluated and transported for emergency evacuation by Airlift to St. Joseph's Hospital.

A young girl was evaluated by the on-duty paramedic at the Eastsound Firehall for swelling caused by a ring stuck on her finger. She was taken to the Orcas Island Medical Center for removal of the ring.

A Waldron Island resident was transported from the Orcas Island Medical center to the airport for Airlift to St. Joseph's Hospital. He manifested multiple cardiac symptoms.

A paramedic and EMT's responded to a Rosario residence where they treated a woman for a severe head injury which resulted from a fall. She was stabilized and transported by ambulance to the airport for airlift to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham.

A Fire Battalion Chief was dispatched to the scene of a reported illegal burn pile. The guest in the residence was ordered to extinguish the fire and warned about violations to the permit.

Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a West Beach Resort area to assist a patient experiencing back pain. The patient was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for evaluation.

EMS Personnel responded to a home in the Orcas area to assist two patients that had hypothermia. The dingy they were in swamped and they swam to shore. Patients were treated on the scene and released.

EMS personnel responded to assist a man experiencing heart palpitations. Patient was treated and released at the scene.

EMS personnel responded to a report of a child with possible neck and back injuries. Upon arrival of EMS, patient had left the scene.

Fire personnel responded to a report of a car fire in the Olga Area. VW Microbus was completely involved upon arrival. Fire was extinguished by the Obstruction Pass Fire Crew.

A Smuggler's Villa resident was treated for a migraine in the early morning hours by the EMS personnel responding to her residence. She was not transported.

EMS personnel were dispatched to the Island Market parking lot following a report of a 30 year old man with skull and facial lacerations from a fall. He was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

EMS personnel responded to Island Market to a report of a man feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Patient was released at the scene.

EMS personnel responded to Buck Park to assist a 9 year old boy with a soccer injury. Patient was transported to the medical center for treatment.

EMS Personnel responded to a Buck Mt. Residence to assist a male with abdominal pain. Patient was transported to the Medical clinic for further evaluation.

Sept. 29, 2001
An Eastsound resident was examined by the EMS personnel responding to his home for multiple symptoms including extremity numbness. He was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation.

Sept. 18, 2001
Emergency personnel were dispatched in the early morning hours to the site of a reported assault. The 21 year old at the scene was evaluated and found to have a broken nose. He was not transported.

A report was received of a cardiac arrest of a 83 year old Orcas resident. EMS personnel were dispatched to the residence. The man could not be resuscitated.

EMS personnel were dispatched to a Rosario Highlands residence to examine a woman experiencing chest pain. She was evaluated and released at the scene.

An 18 month old child who ingested a toxic substance was treated by the responding EMS personnel. She was released to the care of her mother.

A paramedic and EMT’s responded to Orcas Elementary School to treat an 11 year old boy with a bloody nose from a sports accident. He was transported to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation.

A visitor to Orcas was examined for confusion and other symptoms of stress following a fall at Moran State Park by the responding EMS personnel. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center and subsequently by Airlift Northwest to Harborview Hospital in Seattle.

Fire department personnel responded to the Medical Center to transport a patient to the airport. Airlift to transported the patient to Skagit Valley Hospital.

EMT personnel responded to an Eastsound residence to assist a male with difficulty breathing. Patient was released at the scene.

EMT personnel responded to Rosario to assist a man suffering injuries from a fall. Patient was transported to the medical center for treatment.

EMT personnel responded to a report of domestic assault. Patient was released at the scene.

EMT personnel responded to a private residence in the Eastsound area to assist a female with chest pain. Patient was transported to the Medical Center for further treatment.

Emergency personnel responded a single car roll over accident on Deer Harbor Rd. Driver was not injured and was released at the scene.

EMS personnel responded to the Island Market parking lot to attend to a woman with an allergic reaction. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center.

Aid Unit 21 with a paramedic and EMT’s responded to an Obstruction Pass residence following a report of a woman with chest and head pain and shortness of breath. A landing zone was established and the Airlift Northwest helicopter transported her to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham.

A Bellevue WA resident was treated for abdominal pain transported by Airlift Northwest to Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

EMT's and firefighters responded to a Rosario area residence to assist a female with injuries from a fall. Patient was transported to the medical clinic and then transported to the airport for an Airlift flight to the hospital for a hip fracture.

A Westsound Marina employee was treated for an arm laceration and transported by private vehicle to the Orcas Island Medical Center for treatment.

Emergency personnel were dispatched around midnight to an Eastsound residence examine a woman with multiple concerns. She was evaluated by the paramedic and EMT’s and released at the scene.

August 28, 2001
EMS personnel were dispatched to an Eastsound residence in the early morning hours to evaluate a woman with a possible medication reaction. She was not transported.

An Orcas resident was treated and evaluated for chest pain by the responding emergency medical personnel. He was transported to the helicopter landing zone in Orcas for Airlift transport to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham.

A paramedic and EMT’s responded to an Olga residence to assist a semi-conscious woman. She was transported by emergency personnel to Airlift Northwest for transfer to Island Hospital in Anacortes. Fire personnel were dispatched to set up the helicopter landing zone.

August 26, 2001
EMS personnel were dispatched to an Eastsound location to examine a woman experiencing a bee sting reaction. She was evaluated and released at the scene.

An Orcas resident was evaluated by the emergency medical personnel dispatched to a Grindstone Harbor residence to evaluate a man experiencing acute shortness of breath. He was stabilized and transported to the Medical Center and subsequently by Airlift to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Both fire and medical personnel were sent to the scene of a two-vehicle accident reported at the intersection of Olga and Crescent Beach Roads. The drivers and passengers denied injury and the call was canceled.

August 25, 2001
Aid Unit 21 was dispatched to a Rosario location following a report of an older woman with a decreased level of consciousness. She was evaluated, treated and transported by ambulance to the airport for Airlift to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham.

August 23, 2001
Aid unit 21 was dispatched to Moran State Park to examine an unconscious woman. Responding personnel found a 27-year-old island visitor suffering from acute alcohol poisoning. The semi-conscious woman was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center and subsequently transported by Airlift to St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.

A Deer Harbor resident was treated for injuries in a fall from his roof by the responding EMS personnel. He was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

August 20, 2001
Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Olga and Tomihi Drive in the afternoon. The call was canceled enroute at the request of the driver of the vehicle. The driver intended to transport passengers by private vehicle to the Orcas Medical Center.

Aid unit 21 with EMS personnel were dispatched to the intersection of School Road and North Beach to aid a 10 year old boy with minor injuries from a bicycle accident. He was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

August 19, 2001
A beach fire was report off of Point Lawrence Rd. The responding fire personnel found the fire was fully extinguished by the time they arrived and the persons responsible for the illegal burn were not located.

Responding paramedic and EMT’s treated a Bothel visitor for a seizures and transported by ambulance to the Medical Center for further evaluation.

EMS personnel responded to Moran State Park to assist a 29 year old man with injuries from a motorcycle accident. He was evaluated and released at the scene of the incident.

An Eastsound resident was evaluated for minor injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident near the Orcas Hotel. She was not transported.

A 25 year old woman was examined by the paramedic and EMT’s responding to the night call involving a single vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Olga and Eagle Ridge Roads. The woman who complained of left face and jaw pain was transported for further tests to the Orcas Island Medical Center. Alcohol was suspected and the incident was investigated by the on- duty Sheriff’s deputy.

August 18, 2001
Emergency personnel were dispatched to a Deer Harbor restaurant following a report of a ground-level fall with the woman experiencing back and neck pain . She was transported for further evaluation to the Orcas Island Medical Center.

An Alder Street residence was reported to have a recreational burn in their yard. A Battalion Chief responded and the fire was immediately extinguished by the property owner.

Medic 1 with a paramedic and EMT’s responded in the early morning hours to the Cascade Harbor Inn were a man was reported to have a right shoulder injury as the result of a fall. He was transported for further assistance to the Orcas Island Medical Center.

August 17, 2001
EMS Personnel responded to the Deer Harbor Marina to assist a man with a possible dislocated shoulder. Patient was transported to the medical center.

A paramedic and EMT responded to a female bicyclist with a possible broken ankle. Patient was transported to the Medical center.

A 14 year old boy was examined by EMS personnel responding to Moran State Park. The boy complained of shortness of breath and had a history of asthma. He was transported for further evaluation to the Orcas Island Medical Center.

August 15, 2001
A Rosario Palisades Drive resident was examined by Emergency Medical Personnel dispatched to the scene following a report of a woman with leg and hip pain following a fall. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation. The patient was subsequently transported by Airlift Northwest to Island Hospital with a left hip fracture.

August 14, 2001
A 9 month baby girl was evaluated by a paramedic and EMT’s dispatched to the scene after falling approximately 6-8 feet onto rocks near the ferry landing. The child was stabilized and transported by ambulance to the airport for transfer to Harborview Hospital in Seattle with possible head injury.

August 13, 2001
A 14 year old youth at Camp Orkila was examined by the responding EMS personnel after a report was received that he was experiencing an asthma attack. He was stabilized and transported to the Orcas Island Medical Center for further evaluation.

August 12, 2001
A fire alarm at the Orcas Island Medical Center was investigated by responding personnel. No fire was located and the call was canceled.

August 11, 2001
An Eastsound resident was examined at a local restaurant after he reported feeling faint. There was no transport required.

August 10, 2001
A vehicle accident at the corner of Eastman and Orcas Roads resulted in one patient being examined for neck pain. The Seattle resident was transported to the Orcas Island Medical Center by the responding EMS personnel for further evaluation. Fire personnel kept units on standby for the incident.

A paramedic and EMT’s responded to the Rosario boat dock following a report of a man with leg pain as the result of a fall. He was evaluated and released at the scene.

August 8, 2001
Fire units from stations in Eastsound and Rosario were dispatched to a Rosario residence following a report of a brush fire apparently caused by sparks from a burn pile. The evening fire was extinguished with no damage to structures. Investigation of the cause is continuing.

August 6, 2001
A Rosario area resident was transported by Airlift Northwest to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham following injuries sustained in a domestic assault incident.

August 5, 2001
Multiple fire personnel were dispatched to two early morning fire alarms at the Orcas Middle School. No fire was located and the automatic alarm was reset.

A Spring Point resident was examined following a report of a seizure. He was not transported.

Firefighters were dispatched with Engine 21 to an Indralaya residence following a report of a vehicle fire. The fire was extinguished by the owner prior to the arrival of district personnel.

An island visitor at a Rosario location was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center following a fall resulting in injury to her right foot.

EMS personnel were dispatched to transport an Anacortes resident to Island Hospital by Airlift Northwest.

August 4, 2001
EMS personnel were requested to aid a woman in the Olga area who had fallen. No transport was required.

Aid Unit 21 with a paramedic and EMT’s responded to a local inn following a report of a woman experiencing weakness and fever. She was transport by ambulance to a landing zone in Orcas for transport to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham

EMS personnel were dispatched in the morning hours to an Eastsound residence following a report of a woman experiencing weakness and other symptoms. She was transported by Medic Unit 22 to the Orcas Island Medical Center for evaluation.

A Deer Harbor resident experiencing breathing difficulties was examined by EMS personnel responding to the scene. She was transported by ambulance to the Orcas Island Medical Center for evaluation.

A woman experiencing chest pain was evaluated by EMS personnel and transported to the airport for Airlift to Skagit Valley Hospital.

July 23, 2001
Aid 21 responded with a paramedic and EMT’s to examine a man experiencing abdominal and chest pain. He was transported by EMS personnel to the airport for Airlift to St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a Deer Harbor Road location following a report of an unresponsive man at the side of the road. Emergency procedures were unable to revive the 50 year old Eastsound resident.

EMS personnel were dispatched to a private residence in the Eastsound area to assist a woman experiencing faintness and nausea. She was transported to the medical center for evaluation.

EMS personnel were dispatched to assist a 2-year-old boy with injuries from a fall down stairs. He was transported to the medical center for further evaluation.
