The 8th-grade team - Dylan Marriner, Priscilla Hawkins, Stephen Garfield and Kate Fyrquist - took second place. They were in third-place with 420 points going into the bonus round. They bet 419 points and correctly answered the bonus question. The Lions team had Edgar Allen Poe as their answer and moved from fourth-place into third place. They bet 401 of their 415 points in the bonus round. The Rotary team started strong. They were in first-place after the first two of the four regular rounds. They bet all their points in the bonus round, answered correctly and ended up in fourth-place with 800 points. The Friday Harbor High School junior/senior team also had a good start. They were tied with the Rotary team for first-place after the initial round. They ended up in fourth-place after round two, in sixth-place after rounds three and four. They bet 389 of their 395 points in the bonus round and ended up in fifth-place with 784 points. The Soroptimist team worked their way up from last place at the end of round two to second-place at the end of the fourth round. They bet 100 points in the bonus round, answered correctly and ended up in sixth-place with 540 points. And the Kiwanis kept their tradition alive. They finished dead last with 0 points. The Knowledge Bowl is a fundraising event for the San Juan Public Schools Foundation. Between each round, students shared information about the benefits of educational programs provided by the foundation. Started in 1993, the foundation has awarded over $80,000 in grants.
Scorekeepers Sammy Michaels and Eric Rothlisberger announced the scores after each round.
