Pod Nods at The Whale Museum

posted 06/01/2006
Pod Nods return to The Whale Museum for marine science adventures on four Friday nights this summer: July 7, 14, 21, and 28. These popular "pajama party" sleepovers in the Museum for children ages 5-8 will be led by a Museum Educator with assistance from other adult professionals and college students. Youth participants will learn to value whales and their environment through art projects, science labs, music, games, and the traditional flashlight tour of exhibits.

Each date will have a different theme: The Other Whales (humpbacks, grays, and minkes), All About Orca (learn about the three types of orca whales), L-Pod: Native Legends, Myths, and Crafts, and Conservation (Save the Whales) so that children can have fun in up to four different areas of learning. Each Pod Nod will begin at 6:30 PM, with pick-up Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. A bedtime snack and light breakfast are included.

The cost for each Pod Nod is $35 for children/grandchildren of Museum members. The cost for non-members is $39 per Pod Nod. To register a child in a Pod Nod or to receive more information, please call The Whale Museum at 378-4710 extension 23 or email marcy@whalemuseum.org. Pre-registration is required to insure a low adult to child ratio and a great experience for the Pod Nodders!
