The southern resident orca pods population is up to 89 with the birth of J48. J16, now a mother of four, was seen with the newborn on December 17 while J pod, K pod and L87 were south of Whidbey Island between Edmonds and Kingston according to Orca Network. The 10-year-old educational organization presents its annual Ways of Whales Workshop on January 28, 2012 at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island.
