On Jan. 14, Vigor Industrial of Seattle teamed with Whidbey Island’s Nichols Brothers Boat Builders to match the Samish hull and superstructure. The 1,800-ton hull and 1,200-ton superstructure were fitted together with the use of a large hydraulic rail system in an 18-hour operation. The assembled Samish is now in dry dock being welded together for the complete assembly. The Samish is scheduled for delivery in early 2015 and the Tokitae will begin service on the Mukilteo/Clinton route with the start of summer schedule.
