The San Juan Islands Agricultural Summit - featuring internationally renowned mycologist Paul Stamets, workshops on a variety of topics, roundtables, and more - takes place 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 16 at Friday Harbor Middle School.
This summit, which cost $50 in advance or $55 at the door, is an opportunity for new and seasoned farmers, local food supporters, businesses that source local foods, and agricultural organizations to gather for workshops, panels, and roundtable discussions to share their knowledge and help to create meaningful change for the broader agricultural community of the San Juan Islands. Everyone is welcome.
The schedule includes:
Keynote by Paul Stamets, internationally renowned mycologist, author, and visionary
Workshops on topics such as creating a GMO free seed producers co-op, leasing farmland, beekeeping, growing mushrooms for food and medicine, and more
Roundtable with county council candidates to engage them in important agricultural issues
Summit for agricultural organizations
Summit for farm-to-school programs
Seed swap
Delicious, locally grown lunch
Social hour, followed by a contra dance

Display tables are available free of charge to non-profit organizations, with one organization representative admitted at half price.
Tables are also available to farms wishing to display or sell their products.

Or sleep in a hay loft. Heritage Farm, on San Juan Island, has generously offered their barn loft (with a shared bathroom) for up to 10 summit participants. Bring your own camping mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, and towel. No smoking allowed! Email info@sjcarc.org to sign up.
