Read what was happening 100 years ago in the March 28, 1913 issue of the San Juan Islander newspaper published from 1898 to 1914. The news: April 12 was set as cleanup day. Instead of dumping rubbish off the end of the dock, the rubbish would be put on a scow and towed into the bay and then dumped into the water. And a dogcatcher was hired to deal with the "heterogenous conglomeration of mongrels".
This year's photo of the Day series will be a bit different from last year's. The same rules - must be taken this year and in the county - apply with one exception.
