A 34 year old male with mental retardation has been forced to leave his home due to ongoing mental/physical/financial abuse. He was staying on a small boat with his family and that situation was no longer safe and healthy for him.

Thankfully, a kind stranger has taken him in temporarily. Marla Y. Johns, M.S., BSW Orcas Island Senior Services Coordinator is working with multiple agencies to secure him long term housing (probably off island).

Unfortunately, he left with just the clothes on his back and shoes with holes in them. He wears size 32X34 pants, XL shirts, size 14 1/2 shoes and similar sized socks/underwear. He needs toiletries (razor, toothbrush, tooth paste, etc.) and financial donations as well.

Any donations could be dropped off at either the Senior Center or Orcas Fire. Please have any donations labeled “Orcas CARES” to make sure they go to the right place. Thank you for your kindness.
